Announcing our "Spring is in the Air" Painting competition!

Gamer’s Haven is happy to announce our first painting competition of 2021!

We will have three levels: Junior (under age 13), Teens (13-17 yrs old) and Senior (18+ yrs old).

We will have three categories: Best interpretation of theme, best technical, and crowd favorite.

Entry fees are $5.00 for Juniors and $10.00 for Teens and Seniors.

Entry fees will be applied to administrative costs and prize support.

Prizes will consist of Gamer’s Haven gift cards. (The value of prizes will be based on number of entries in each category.)

The title says it all, “Spring is in the Air.” Feel free to interpret this as you see fit!

Contest Rules:

All entries must be submitted by 12:00 noon Saturday, April 24th. Entries must be submitted in person by the painter and must be the work of the painter submitting them, or else be disqualified.

You may not enter any miniature that has previously won any type of prize or award in any other competition.

Only one (1) entry per category per person. An entry may be refused if it is too large.

If there are not enough entries in an age group, Gamer’s Haven reserves the right to combine and/or cancel that group.

All entries must be in good taste and are subject to disqualification if the judges decide that any common rule has been violated.

The greatest care will be afforded to all entries, by staff who share a passion for the miniature-painting hobby, but Gamer’s Haven staff cannot be held responsible for damaged or lost miniatures. We will do our best to ensure the safety of all entries.

All entries must be reclaimed by 12:00 noon Sunday, May 9th. Entries must be reclaimed by the person submitting them unless plans have been established and approved beforehand. ID may be required.

All entries will be photographed, and submission into the competition indicates permission for Gamer’s Haven to use such images for any purpose, including posting to the online photo gallery.

Judging:

Store patrons and employees will vote on submissions. (Employees who submit entries will be prohibited from voting in their level.) Voting will commence on April 25th and end on Saturday, May 8th.

Patrons/employees may vote on no more than one submission per category in each level.

Submissions may win in multiple categories.

Trade Magazine Subscriptions

Do you read White Dwarf or Wargames Illustrated? Do you want us to hold a copy for you every month when the new issue(s) arrive? If so, simply tell one of our associates the next time you're in the store, and we'll happily add you to our Subscribers List. Then, when your copy arrives, we'll hold it behind the counter for up to two weeks. That way, you can pick it up at your leisure and not have to worry about whether we'll still have copies available when you come in!

Extended Hours and In-Store Gaming!

Beginning Monday, March 1st, Gamer's Haven is happy to announce we are extending our hours and will be reopening the War Room (game room) on a limited basis!

All seats are by reservation only. You can sign up online by clicking the Join An Event button below. Then simply select a table and the number of seats you want to reserve, provide your contact information, and Viola! you're in!

Currently, we can only accommodate tactical miniatures gaming in the War Room. We will look to open it up to more types of games in the coming weeks and months, but safety remains our top priority.

Please note, in the interest of the safety of all of our patrons, the following rules will be strictly enforced.
1. You will need to submit to a temperature scan upon arrival. If your scan reads greater than 99 degrees, you will be scanned again after 10 minutes. If still above 99, you will be asked to leave and try again on another date.
2. You must wear a mask covering your nose and mouth at all times while in the War Room. This will be strictly enforced. If we have to ask you repeatedly to wear your mask properly, you will be asked to leave.
3. There will be a hand sanitizing station as you enter. Please use it.
4. Except for setup and tear-down, you are asked to remain only at your assigned table for the duration of your gaming event. This is to ensure we comply with social distancing guidelines.
5. There will be a limited number of slots at each table. As a courtesy to others, please only sign up if you are sure you will be playing.

New Releases Jan 2021

If you've been in the store in the past few weeks, you might have notices a couple of new items!

First, we have Armada, the new tabletop game of epic naval warfare set in the fantasy realm of Pannithor! Published by Mantic Entertainment, this game lets you engage in epic naval battles between the human Basileans, Orcs, Dwarfs and the undead Empire of Dust! We currently have 2-player starter sets as well as a number of expansions. Come in and check out Armada for yourselves!

You might also notice we have a growing line of jigsaw puzzles. Many of you asked, and we listened! The pandemic has seen many of us spending more time around the table at home, and jigsaw puzzles have surged in popularity. This relaxing pastime is another great way for families to share an engaging hobby experience. Of course, they are fun to do on your own, as well! If you haven't built a puzzle lately, consider coming in and checking out our selection!

Game Room Closed

If you visit our events and classes calendar, you'll probably notice it's pretty empty right now. With the Covid-19 restrictions, we have temporarily closed our gaming space. However, we are looking at reopening on a very limited basis starting sometime in late February or early March, once we feel it is safe to do so.

We know many of you miss coming to the store to share your hobby with others. Believe us when we tell you we miss all of you too! However, your safety, and the safety of our employees is our first concern.

In the meantime, we would love to hear from you about what you're doing on the gaming front! We're updating our Facebook groups over the next several weeks, and we'd love for you to share some of your gaming experiences with us. Show us pictures of the games you're playing. Upload images of the models you're building and painting. If it's game or hobby related, we would really like to see it! And, once we're able to get back into the game room, we hope to see you there so we can discuss all of these amazing gaming experiences in person!

Gamer's Haven is excited to announce we have launched a new website! If you're new to the site, welcome! If you've visited our site before, you'll notice we have a lot of new content, but there's much more to come! We're still in the process of building the site to best suit the needs of our most important visitors -- you! But we need your help. If there's a link (or anything else) that doesn't work, let us know. If you want to see something that isn't included right now, let us know. If you particularly like something about the site, let us know that too!
