I am finally able to get this thing rolling . . . Been talking to Ed at the store and James B. about how to go about it.

So, I'd like to keep the rules light, meaning, going with the original boxed edition of TSR Marvel Super Heroes -- the yellow and orange books.

I'd also like to play myself and not be the GM. My suggestion is that we make teams--Heroes and Villains. My initial thoughts are that the Villains choose the venue(s) and what the heck the Heroes "have" to do . . . save the world, capture the stolen plutonium, rescue the scientist, stop the weapon, halt the invasion . . . you get the idea.

We have three options for characters --

1 - use Marvel heroes and villains that are pre-generated (you know, Cap, Iron Man, Wolverine, etc.), or
2 - we can make our own using the simple rules in the books, or
3 - make a mishmash of existing heroes/villains and our own (in case you are really tied to a hero or a villain)

If we go with the pre-generated existing superheroes, I suggest we leave off the likes of Dr. Strange and Thor--gods and wizards are just bad for roleplaying. For villains, I say what the heck, bring any of them on--afterall, it is unlikely that Galacticus will actually engage in fighting and will instead send his minions or work behind the scenes sending in the likes of Dr. Doom and Doc Oc. Just sayin' . . .

If we go with making our own heroes/villains, we have to come some accord with balance. Heroes should start at a good point buy level, but villains should be higher, possibly as high as 25% more points to spend.

So, bottom line here, a couple of questions -

1 - Who's in? (I am, obviously)
2 - When are playing? (Weekends work, but weeknights could)
3 - How often? (I suggest once a month when we are all clear and can sit for a long game session)
4 - Do we use Marvel heroes/villains or make our own, or is it a combination of the two? (I am wishy-washy on this one!)
5 - How do we choose teams? (I prefer a hero, myself)

We'll still have to work out movement mechanics. The original system is fluid and we'll have to come to some accord on how that will work, and awarding Karma is a tough one--although that can be on the villains (as long as its honest!!!!).

Any thoughts???
