New collision proposal

Over on Wings of War Aerodrome someone brought at their group plays that collisions only happen if the center post of a plane is overlapped by the base of another plane.

This means that bases can overlap, so long as the center post of either plane does not "enter" into base of the other, there is no collision.

What do you guys think of that?

I kind of like it as it gets rid of all of the "what altitude are you at?" questions (at least the part were we all have to look and verify how many climb counters we have). It also means we don't all have to do the "mandatory" climbs to get some separation between our wingmen.

I would say leave it with the base. The base represents the space the plane takes up. If you change it to the center peg then you would have to change shooting to the center peg, otherwise it wouldnt make sense that collisons only happen when the center peg is covered but I could be shot at if the ruler touches my base.

I disagree. Right now we use climb counters to work out collisions, but we don't use them to check for altitude shots. Using the center peg for collisions is just another method to limit the number that happen in a game.

I like the new idea of collisions only happen when the center post is overlapped. To me it means that you came close to an ally/opponent but ducked just in time. While with machineguns shooting, you are spraying that area so you shouldn't have to change shooting. I'm for it.
