Genghis Con Historical Miniatures
I complained (a lot) to DGA about the extreme lack of communication about submitting games for Genghis Con - particularly for miniatures. So the convention director asked me if I wanted to help coordinate miniatures. So I am the assistant miniatures coordinator for Genghis Con XXXII concentrating on historicals. I guess we'll see if that continues on into future conventions. Tom Brown is the main miniatures coordinator. I do not have contact information for him, but I am supposed to get it soon. I don't think he knows he has an assistant yet.
Has anyone submitted anything and did you get an acknowledgement? Would anyone like to submit anything? The submission deadline for games to get into the printed booklet is Monday November 22. The books go to print on the 29th. You can still submit games after the deadline and they will be listed online for players to register, but won't be in the books. It's better for them to be in the books. You can send them to dgagames@yahoo.com and they are supposed to get forwarded to Tom. You can send them to me at mj_garland@comcast.net and I will make sure they get in and even send you an acknowledgment. DGA posted these guidelines.
1) Genre - Need to know if it's a board game, RPG, etc. - For minis let's include period and scale.
2) Game Name - i.e. Dungeons and Dragons 4.0, or Savage Worlds, or Ticket to Ride, etc. - For minis let's give rules and publisher (or homegrown).
3) Game Title - i.e. Adventure into the Thunderspire Labyrinth, or SavageCon Cuthulu Event, or Marklin, etc. - The title of your scenario.
4) Judge name (this is essential to getting the judge credit correct in the database. DO YOUR BEST not to use the Generic judge. I will be policing this closely up until opening registration). - The parenthetical is clearly aimed at RPGs. This is a good place to include your club affiliation such as Mike Garland with CSGA.
5) Game Description - Please limit game descriptions to @255 characters, please. - 255 characters is WAY short (about 50 words). Some descriptions fit ok, but many won't. Write the shortest description possible that describes the game and I'll see what I can do. Some may need to be edited. It has been common in the past to put club affiliation here such as brought to you by Colorado Military Historians. (but that uses 7 or 8 or even 9 of your words depending on how define word - it's 47 characters).
6) Experience Level (This will be added in soon: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, etc.) - Please be sure to include this and either here or in the description whether or not figures are provided.
7) Time slots - Day and Times the event will be run.
There were only 13 historical minis events at Tacticon and a couple of those were canceled. I hope we can do better. I do not yet know what has been submitted already, but should soon find out. Have any of you seen any more information about historicals at Genghis Con than I have? I have seen essentially nothing. Hope to hear from some of you in the next few days. If you can't host a game then please come and play.

Re: Genghis Con Historical Miniatures
Hi All,
There is a bit of a delay in putting together the booklet for Genghis Con. That means there are a few more days to submit games - until Sunday. There is only one game on Sunday, I could really use a few there. I could also use two or three more games for Friday night and another game or two Saturday night. Thanks a bunch to Anthony Armstrong for picking up the ball submitting the Flames of War tournament. Here is what's listed so far for historicals. Oh, there are only 9 sci-fi/fantasy events. Battle of Guilford Courthouse, Hosted by David Hoover
Co-hosted by Gerard Coffey. After weeks of maneuver American and British forces clash at the crossroads hamlet of Guilford Courthouse, North Carolina on March 15, 1781. British General Lord Cornwallis' veteran army was dwindling daily due to insufficient supply. He was gambling on local Tory support and sought a battle of annihilation to crush the Americans before his army withered away. American General Nathanial Greene also sought battle. He now had over 4,000 troops, outnumbering the British. His army was as strong as it was ever likely to be, but he was painfully aware that his army consisted of 3,000 militia. But the battle would take place on ground of his choosing. One of the most important battles of the revolution Guilford Courthouse would set into motion a chain of events which would lead directly to Yorktown and the end of the war. Each player will command a brigade. As a British commander you must push your opponent to the limit and destroy him. As the American commander you will have to delay the British and drain him of his strength as you lure the enemy ever further. Brought to you by Camino Real Historical Gamers.
