    New Models in March

Got the GW newsletter this morning and they were talking about a new addition to 40k. Baisicly a book with somehting like 30 more new mission types (an add-on to the 3 in the base rule book). What really sparked my interest though was this, "Of course it just wouldn't be the same if there weren't some great new miniatures to fight through these missions with. Fortunately, there will be new sets for Space Marines, Orks and the Imperial Guard released alongside Battle Missions in March."

I'm hoping for plastic Megearmored Nobz, what are you guys hoping to see?

New Tanks and Artillery. My guess will be plastic stormtroopers and artillery.

That would be nice, definetly make me consider starting my guard army. What I would really like to see is more plastic for the alternate armys though (valhallan, vostryn, talleran, etc.) That would really make me start building guard.

How about new codices and minis for the armies which have not been updated yet. Instead they are dithering with already released armies and a new mission book which will make those armies need new minis thereby increasing sales(GW hopes!)

I do agree that they should deal with the outdated stuff first, but it makes sense for them to do this as well. They are dealing with 'nids early next year(February I think) which shows that they aren't exactly ignoring these armies, and also its safer to say now, 4 months in advance, that they are doing new models as opposed to declaring army updates for March. Because if something goes wrong and there is a delay or something chances are they will have at least a couple sculpts done to release, and at worst they will disappoint some people. Whereas if they have to delay a new codex for 2 months because it's not ready people will be a lot more upset. It's just a smart move for them to not make a promise they might not be able to keep.

Or maybe a plastic thunderhawk, I mean if they can make stompas and fortress of redemption they can make a thunderhawk. Also, I heard rumor of them doing new marine sets similar to what they did for space wolves for a whole bunch of chapters

    Re: New Models in March

Rob told me about this last night. It sounds like one of the add-on books, like Cities of Death and Planetfall.

And I've changed my stance with them. I really don't care what they do first, update codexes or put out new stuff. They're a business and to stay "alive and growing," they need to generate interest, not mollify current players who have materia to work with. The 'Wolves players were damned happy when their book came out, and I'm sure the 'Nids players are going to be stoked come January. The Skaven players (besides Dale...) love their new book, and February we should see a surge of Beastmen players (except Mike, he'll hate the new book out of principle). Remember, I'm still waiting on several things for my armies, too, but I'm OK because I have so much OTHER stuff that I'm really not missing new stuff.

The Missions book will be something good, something to break up the monotony of 9 standard missions, 5 of which most players don't like (the 3 Annihilation! ones, with the kill points and the bickering, and the 2 other Dawn of War ones, again with the deployment stuff and the bickering... 40K players bicker too damned much...).

Just because you CAN do something doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD.

Speaking as a player of Dark Eldar (Who have the distinction of being the uncontested oldest codex, and the crappiest model range) And Blood Angels (Who hold the distinction of having the only fake codex.) I have no problem with this. About the only thing I really don't like about fifth edition is the missions, which this book will fix. Also, it does not seem to be interrupting the release schedule for updating codices.

Besides, I am pretty happy in general with the way GW is handling miniatures releases now, as no matter what army (or game, in some cases) you play, they are dropping occasional releases so the wait is not quite so long as waiting for the next codex to get new miniatures.

We probably would not even have a new IG codex yet if they waited to get all of the new models done for it, so I have no problem with second (and third, it seems) waves of new miniatures so they can take their time with them, and maintain a reasonable output of new codices.

    Seconded,
but your statement should be expanded to "Gamers" or really even "geeks of all varieties" We seem to be a surly lot considering how much time we spend playing games.

    Seconded for the Truth...
