So I've been looking at minis on CMON and I find that I don't agree with most rankings. Maybe I'm just different, so I want to know what you guys think. Do you prefer the cartoony feel of paintjobs on minis or realistic paintjobs?

Cartoony I tend to think of NMM with exaggerated highlights. Here is an example:

Realistic I tend to think of more muted colors and less highlights, possibly more blends, such as:

Those links are just examples, but what do you think?

P.S.
Anyone know how to make this a poll?

realistic.

in my humble opinion, anyone can make a "toy" look like a toy... it's making that "toy" look like a real guy in power armor, or dragon, or beast that takes more skill, and get more respect outta me.

Being a fan of historicals, realistic is the only way to go. Painting Nappies does not allow for errors. :D

Realistic, even tho i don't think that High Elf looks all that cartoony, it looks like a fantasy model....

Got to go with Realistic. Maybe it is my focus on the historical side of gaming that has influenced me too. Even with the gaudiness that you can have in the Napoleonic era, The attention to detail that can come from good shading, hilighting, and just a plain good color scheme selection on a figure can be a nice addition to the gaming experience. Maybe I'm a bit old fashion that way?
