Is anyone available for a game of Victory at Sea on Thursday evening? I have an American fleet and would like to try out the rules for Victory at Sea. Let me know.

How easy/hard are the Victory at Sea rules? I just ordered the book, but I'd like to get some other opinions on the rules before I get the book.

I will be up at the Haven with my stuff at about 6:00 on Wednesday evening. If you have ships and would like to play Victory at Sea, bring your stuff up and we can run through some games.

Kevin,
Sorry I missed your post. I'll be up ant the Haven on Tuesday evening for Anachronism and Wednesday for, hopefully, Battlefield Evolution. I'll bring my stuff both nights and, if you're up there, maybe we can get in a game.

I think I might have enough British stuff to play sometime.
Can someone give me a link to find the VAS rules? And also, How long do the games run playing VAS?

Depending on the Priority level and points used per side it can be anywhere from 20 mins to an hour, or so?
Forrest and I played at the lowest Priority level (Patrol) at fivr points per side. He ended up with three American vessels and 6 flights of Devastators(?) and I ended up with two Japanese vessels and four flights of Zeros and three flights of Kates.
We played it in about 20-30 mins even with lots of questions and looking up of charts/rules.
It's a very fun and quick game.

I think it is a great set of rules It is based on the Babylon 5 ship combat rules.
Okay, I really want to try the rules now!!

We have a copy in stock at the store.
ColGreeley
04-10-2007, 10:09 AM
$29.95. It is a hard cover book and it includes counters and chits so you can play right away. I really like the section where all the ships are listed and contains a brief history of each one for every country.
Do they have all the same ships that War at Sea does?
ColGreeley
04-10-2007, 11:03 AM
They have more. More different types of CLASS of ship from each country.
Okay, so i am guess i would just proxy the Ships that they don't make Models for?
Also is anyone that play Victory at Sea going to be at the store tonight? I would really like to learn the rules!!

Troy,
Would you and Evo like to stay a little late at the store tonight (after the Anachronism event) and learn Victory at Sea? If so, Both of you can bring your ships and we could probably get started about 7:30 and play to maybe 9:00. Let me know if that works for both of you.
Forrest
Ummm, yeah sure. I may need to borrow one/if any ships. Since i have only gotten 3 boosters. But yeah that sounds great. I need to ask my ride (My brother) but i will Prolly be there!!!!

Did I hear Victory At Sea?
if you need an extra hand Forrest, I might be able to come up with my ships and play on a side... or just help out.
I also printed out an FAQ from the Mongoose site that was somewhat helpful.
When does the Anachronism event start tonight?

Gentlemen:
A great time was had by all.
Evo, I'm happy that you enjoyed yourself and that you'll be joining us for more games of Victory At Sea!
If enough people are interested, perhaps Forrest and I can come up with a campaign? What do you say, Forrest?
I too am very anxious to get a higher priority game in with about 10 points of vessels!
Troy... break out another block of dice! Full speed ahead!

Unfortunately, I'm looking after the kids tonight so I'll be at home tinkering with the great VAS files you sent and devising various fleet lists for our next engagement.
Have fun tonight and I look forward to pitting my IJN fleet against you again in the near future!
Respectfully,
KEVIN
Yeah, i have to many Battleships, Carriers, Cruisers. Not to take part in a big event :D

And i would be the Second :D

A campaign sounds like a lot of fun, whether it be truly historical or an alternate history storyline. I'd like to get some more "one off" games in before we do that though. Various priority levels of play will give us a better handle on ship combos that will work for us in a campaign setting. Having played in many campaigns in many game settings, I've found out there's nothing worse than getting into a campaign and finding out that the forces you built don't work.
But let's play some games and talk about getting a campaign together at a later time.

That sounds like a good idea, since I haven't played a game yet (hopefully sometime soon). Maybe by the time a campaign gets started, I'll have a few more players from USAFA interested.

I agree with Forrest. We should get alot more games in and test the different priority levels before we can set up any kind of campaign.

Gentlemen:
Forrest and I played a bigger scale game this past Sunday with ten points of vessels at priority level Battle. We ended up having a lot of minis on the board to play with. We finally had the opportunity to play with main gun batteries this time and it was quite impressive! I was very impressed with the performance of the IJN YAMATO as its guns outdistanced everything on the board including the USS IOWA. Gunnery exchanges can be very deadly even at extremely long ranges.
Needless to say, we had another enjoyable time pushing ships.
I need more Zeros!

KEVIN

Sounds great!
What ships are you still missing?
Perhaps we can pre-arrange a 5-point Raid priority level game and that way we can have a pre-set force to work towards?

My friend and I played a 5 point level game on Saturday, and I'll tell you, the Deutschland class German cruiser ROCKS!! Killed two Brit cruisers in under three turns with a series of long range induced critical hits (it was so cool!!).
