Kotei 2007

Thanks to Charles and Mark for running the Kotei.

Had a great time. Got to play against a variety of Clans/styles (Crane [Honor run], Phoenix [Honor run Shugenja], Crab [Force], Shadowlands [Demons that just wouldn't die even after killing them 4 times over], Unicorn [Battle Maiden], Scorpion [Dishonor and lose Honor nastiness]).

Record was 3-3 and missed the playoffs by 2 spots. I could've made the playoffs but in game #6 I decided to stick to my principle of having a "fun" game and let my opponent cancel an honor gain that happened way after the fact (I also gave my Scorpion opponent a break which cost me 7 honor but still ended up winning). I figured that even if I did make the playoffs, chances of victory were iffy and I was getting worn out anway. Probably part of the reason I did get Best Sportsman.

Hear hear, kudoes to Charles and Mark for running another great Kotei. I hope that all who played and participated had a good time. Thanks to all the local players for coming out and supporting it. I went 2-4 but had a great time. Now I just need to think about what I want to do for L5R for the future.

I wish I had found the last few cards that I needed for my Lion deck prior to the start of the Kotei but, the fates were against me!
Not that it seemed to matter in the end anyway.
The two other Lion players made it to Top 4!

I might have to take a trip to Nebraska...

Issac from New Mexico won with his Mantis Sea Creature deck. He beat a Lion player, not sure who he was, from Kansas I think. Charles would have a complete breakdown of all the winners.

One other note, our very own Michael Baswell did make the Top 16. Congrats Mike, way to represent!

I just want to point out that I was knocked out by the eventual winner. In theory, at least, I coulda been number 2!
