Patches, League Fees, Final Week

Hi all,

While I'm still trying to nail down exactly how many are still in the League, I have a rough estimate on League Fees to cover the Winter Package, Pins, and Patches.

Patches are now IN - so to get yours, stop in at the Haven, and pay the fee of $7.75 . I'd like everyone to pay this weekend if possible - this way we're clear going into last week. I don't want to go into what happens to deadbeats. ;)

Also, sometime on Saturday I'll begin conducting an audit of all the cards and games thus far. Please make sure yours is in good order, with games listed on the correct week-blocks, etc. If I ask you about discrepancies, please be honest and courteous.

Since no objections were raised, I'm allowing George to switch to one of two understaffed teams - I'll find out from him which one tonight.

After George picks, and the Audit concludes, I will post scores as of Sunday closing, including Team Totals, going into the Final Week!

I'm thinking that Final Week Six games will end on SATURDAY, MARCH 31st when the Haven closes (10 or 11 I think). There's a Steamroller Tourney at Compleat Games on Sunday, and I don't want to discourage attendance at that by running final games through Sunday.
Saturday there'll be a Flames of War event going on at the Haven part of the day, but we can still have plenty of tables going, and more in the evening.

Are you taking team averages(minus no shows)? Or just adding up the totals? Also, for the players that played no games, are we going to have to recoup the cost of them or are they not included?

Team Scores are a flat Sum, not an Average. :-)

And to remind, the 4 Awards are:

Team: Top Sum of Team Scores

Champion: Top Individual Score

Relentless: Most Number of Games

Tactician: Most Points from Bounties

I'm not going to have anyone double-up on awards, and I'll be awarding them in the order above. So if your Team wins, for instance, you wouldn't also get the Champion Pin.

Fortunately, those that have dropped so far just about equals the shortfall in patches. :-)

I have a question:

Do you mean to say that the league champion would invalidate the potential for his team to win the top team award because he's the top league player?

Or do you mean to say that it will simply work out that way?

It would be a shame for a team to miss out on getting top team because one of their team-mates did so well to get them to that position.

Other way around (as I posted it)...Team Award first, then Champion, then Relentless, then Tactician. So if your Team won, and you ahd the single highest score, you'd just get a Team Pin, and the next guy in line not on your team would get the Champion Pin.

I can't find the specific Rules mention of the order, but that makes the most sense. And I'm assuming they don't want the same guy who plays 66 games in 6 weeks to take all 4 pins. Again, the rules don't say, and since the Forums are blocked, I can't check to see if anyone's asked this question yet.

After further consultation amongst the Judges, this is deemed unfair to other players to change structure mid-League. So I'm rescinding this.
Keep it in mind for next League - get you Team picks lined up in advance, and pick reliable friends!

Just a suggestion. Maybe you randomize teams at week 6 of the league? NOT for this season but next season. During the league we all play games individually then at the end we randomize teams this way everyone actually has a 3 person team? I know that separating by factions appears to be better, but the practicality just doesnt work. This way it actually gives everyone something to play for. You could even have an event at the end (BBQ?) maybe where teams and winners are announced.

Sure, you can ,I'm assuming. :-) We got more folks than originally anticipated. even with the two drops. Next time though, we'll do $$ up front only, and I'll round it to the nearest dollar so Rob doesn't run out of quarters.

I think he said on Thursday Ryan would be passing pins out. That all depened on what Ryan was doing. Dale will be out of town.

One quick clarification on this:

I'm hoping everyone still playing will be paying...I don't want the hassle of excluding anyone from future Haven Leagues.
The possible "exclusion" mentioned above is aimed at ACTIVE participants throughout, who may suddenly decide "I didn't win, this League is stupid, I don't want my stoopid patch..." etc, and are trying to back out from their sign-up commitment. I based the League Fee calculation on the assumption that 20 or less people of the 24 signed up were actually going to be active and want patches by League's end. So those who weren't able to be fully active, no worries.
In future, we'll solve any confusion by simply collecting costs up front. :-) And they'll be lower too, most likely.

I waited around till about 6-6:05, and only Mark and one other were there.

It sounded like some people got their pins. I'd say if you haven't received yours yet, you should stop by the store and double check. I'll be by castle (I forgot to leave results) and drop off results there too.
