With the forthcoming release of Dark Heresy, I was looking to throw together a group to start up a game. I'm not the most experienced of gamemasters but could run the game if no others would step forward (someone step foward). Weekends would probably be the best for most people to get together. As for location, I think Gamers Haven would be best because of location and to further draw attention to the store. Anyone is welcome to join, with the release we will setup a gathering time and run from there.

That would be good. I know for a fact that Stu and My self have talked about running one or at least starting an interest in getting the game running. I do believe that it 'should be easy' to get a game up and running. I do believe Rob Sold out of Dark Heresy Yesterday and is ordering some more, So the people who have a copy of the book are out there.
As for running it in the Haven, I would Agree with as well. After all more people in the store playing it would generate more interest in the game, and it couldn't hurt for Rob to have people playing it in the back.
One small issue though would have to be the content of the game. Yes it is dark and grim, but we must take care not to make it too dark and grim to be ran in the store...Otherwise troy would throw us out in the street.
I think it's doable. We may can even set up a predetermined safety word for Troy. :)

Well next Saturday is a Fantasy tournament, also I have to be a card dealer that night, at some kids party. So I was thinking that we should try this coming night Friday, Which would be the first of February. How is that date, or do we need to push it back further?

If there's still room for players, I'd love to join in on this as well. :) I havn't had a chance to look at the book yet, but it looks like an awesome game.

I dont see why not. The more the merrier. Did I spell merrier right? Oh well....But yes as of right now I think we are just getting interest up, trying to set a date, and if you know of anyone else who would like to play, send them this way on the thread.

Like I said earlier, I can do pretty much anyday. So yes Sundays will work for me. But how does that do for the others?
Sunday might be good for me. Saturday, I'll be playing Deadlands in Forrrest's game.
Would youse guys like to roll characters and throw out ideas for a campaign, play an already set up convention-style scenario, then roll characters, or bring your own characters and run some other published scenario?
Ranek7212
01-27-2008, 09:28 PM
I would like to do a firm setting, with either the characters we made prior to the game, or spending 5 min to make them prior to the game. I already have that one Adeptus Arbites character I made the other day. Either Published Adventure, or one the ST comes up with is good enough for me.

We may can even set up a predetermined safety word for Troy. :)
Troy's safety word is "Squat". :-)
I'd be interested, but I'm probably not free enough until March or so to play. In-store play is a great idea though, and if you set up with Troy, rob, or Timbo to play, you can stay late on a weeknight after the store closes.
Dibs on the hard-edged female Arbites veteran though, when I can show up. :-)
As for tone, DH would have to be fairly mature, but a lot can be left PG-13 (sorta like how Dan Abnett writes), even in the store. Its UNHALLOWED METROPOLIS that goes the hard R-rating.

Shhhhh! Your spilling my plan to masses. Though I do remeber the days when we would play late, like till 0000 hours. At the store that was. However thats in the past and once again it looks like it will be up to me to bribe one of the staff....by bribe I meant to convince... ;)
Oh and So long as I get to kill some furries, Stu....I will be happy.

Saturdays would work best for me. I have to work Sundays. :)
Ranek7212
01-28-2008, 03:15 PM
Well I think this sunday is best for now. However I am not saying that the time cant change down the road. I will post something on that board at the haven with rob tomorrow Stu. Stating that we are going to get together on Sunday. However once we get the group together I will see how the next saturday is.
This saturday I will be honest is not good for me. As I have to babysit some high schoolers....Yea!! Go me....Not really no...
Killing furries has . . . consequences.
But there will unquestionably be gore, bloodshed, and insanity appropriate to the setting.
Ranek7212
01-28-2008, 05:24 PM
That is all I can ask of Stu. Insanity...the other parts I think go hand in hand with Insanity. At least based on my experience.
Here's what I plan to commit to:
I have at least three published scenarios at my disposal. I can monkey around with them to suit the group. I have prepared characters so people without the book can play, or people who just drop in, spur of the moment can play. I have Quickstart versions of the rules for folks without books. We may want to start with those anyway, and gradually incorporate new rues (as I read them.)
I want to run some other games at the shop on Saturday--so I prefer Sunday at the moment. There's something blasphemous about playing on Sunday that suits me. I'd prefer to go weekly or bi-weekly for six to eight sessions. At that point, hopefully more people will be ready to run the game on Sunday, or to have more games going on other nights. All of my notes and whatnot would be available if anyone wanted them for campaign continuity.
After that, I know Jake will want to continue to play, but I would be happy to hand off GM duties to someone even more ravenous and chaotic than myself. It would be pretty sweet if we could get multiple regular campaigns running at the shop.

Saturday is out for me, I have a military ball that day. As for campaign and characters if some one wants to step forward and run that would be great, and unless some one is really that low to cheat at a role playing game (yes I know they are out there) we should be fine with just bringing a character with us. So will it be Friday night or Sunday afternoon.
Ranek7212
01-28-2008, 06:32 PM
I believe we are going to be doing it on Sunday, with Stu running it for now. Oh and after I see the master ST himself...Stu...Work his magic, I wouldn't mind throwing something together.
Note: I will be Posting on the board that rob and Stu came up with to try to organise these types of events. So people who are just walking through the store can see it.
Um--I have my areas of expertise, but I don't want expectations to get out of hand . . .
Stu GMing Dark Heresy
Pros--pretty good GM in general, has run the demo scenario a couple times and feels familiar with it, is available on Sun, and loves to rp at the shop.
Cons--vaguely familiar with the WH universes but not a 40K canon expert by any stretch of the imagination, will basically know the rules but won't read every single word in the book before Sun, probably won't be in it for too long a haul. But I don't want to overplan . . .
So I am available to GM, but I don't want to step on toes if someone else wants to, too. I am at the disposal of the group, in whatever role will help get some good quality roleplaying going at the shop on a regular basis. That is my goal.

Male or female Arbitrator? I can always switch over to the feral warrior or bound psyker ideas.
For that matter, who's the actual Inquisitor? :-) I'd love to base one on Helen Mirren mixed with Cate Blanchett, with the personality and investigative techniques of Gregory House.

Anyway Dale....::shakes his head trying to keep a straight face at what dale said:: It says that inquisitors normally do not make enough of a contact with their acolytes to try to keep the links between them hidden from other inquisitors and those who would try to stop the acoloytes. So you might not know that who you work for is a Radical till he asks you to find some one to be a demon host. Even then he might not tell you what he wants with the person....just to get that person.

This way when/if Stu drops some combat on us in the first game we have some stuff to represent us and the enemy/hereitics. We can use some of the terrian in the store. Now just one question...1 inch = 1 meter? how are we going to do distance. Also one blast template/ small or large for a grenade? Not that I have any, but it is something we should brainstorm about.

I read through the Forums and they are going to put out rules for vehicles and other things on the website later. So...I decided instead of giving into the negativity, Stu helped on this as well, I am going to help put the game up with Stu and anyone else that would like to play this great game.
All this means is that we can come up with our own stats and stuff game later, as there will be no rule-lawyers to say, "But the book says...!"
If you wish to join us please do. It will be on Sunday, and don't Give into the man!!!

There are 25 plage flammaramas on the other sights I go to. Oh my goodness. The grousing is insane. Predictable. Somewhat understandable. But completely insane.
They're all asking how they're going to play 40K rp, now that DH and WFRP are dead. I've had to do my "there are no dead rpgs" speech a few times, and point out that with DH and the metric butt-tonne of 40K material out there, it's really not a huge thing to flesh out the game however you want.
Then I reminded folks that as long as you had demons, aliens, magic, psionics, and huge freakin' guns, you could pretty much play whatever 40K thing you wanted. Personally, I would recommend Savage Worlds as an alternative ruleset.
Anyhoo. Yeah--it's been a busy day trying to chill people out on the whole fiasco. The consensus has been--the game pretty much did as well as it could ever possibly do so why cancel it? I guess they just don't know GW very well. I hope that doesn't actuate your chip there, man. ;)

No worries about my "chip," made sure that was nullified when they ended the Outrider program. Why do you think I'm playing more Wargods minis and L5R cards, digging out the RPG stuff, and joining in on Forrest's 'Deadlands' game?
I'm just highly annoyed at the idiocy coming from game companies as of late. Something does spectacular... and they don't want to support it. It's not a flash-in-the-pan event, the first run SOLD OUT. Completely. What about the almighty dollar (pound?) do they not understand about that?:
"I say, Reginald, this RPG thing won't last. And truth be, I'd rather sit on my arse and produce novels redundantly like Black Library. Let's end it while we're ahead and tell all the railing sots to sod off."
"Capital idea, mate, capital! Any more bacon butties, perchance?"
I'm glad there's players like those of you on here, still willing to "stick it to the Man." But the Man will continue to stick it to us because we roll over and just say "Meh" with a shrug of our shoulders. Yes, there are alternates and other ways of doing it, but there's nothing like an original game from the codex information. Yes, I'm a bit lazy and just want to reach over and grab the DH books, not the Savage World or the GURPs or the D20 OGM stuff. We do you think I quit playing World of Darkness games and sold all my stuff to Compleat?
It's like when AEG decided to drop 7th Seas. They had a huge backlash on their forums, and in the end stated they regretted ending it, since there was apparently a huge fanbase for it. Now they're being smart with the Legend of the Five Rings RPG, having gone back to the original roll'n'keep, instead of that poncy D20 OGM crud.
I'm planning on buying all the DH stuff I can get, don't doubt that. And I'll use the 40K codexes and stuff to supplement, as well as the Inquisitor range stuff I have. But it's still disappointing... :(
Dark Heresy/WFRP--
Pros--Staggering artwork, a richly textured world developed for 20-something years, humor, chaos, insanity, easy rules that feature the best parts of "levelling up" without the ridiculous side-effects some games have (D&D, I'm looking at you), and world-wide fan base.
Cons--heartbreaking abandonments of greatr ideas (squats) and a fairly abusive attitude toward the rpg world.
Yeah--I think DH comes out ahead. A whole bunch of heartbroken fans are alredy talking about E-baying all their BI stuff, including DH. I say snap it up! You'll be able to find a game around here for quite a while, it looks like . . .

Topic:Acolyte Reports on Sepheris Secundus
by: Acolyte Flavion Highlin
To: Inquisitor Astrid Skane
My Ladyship,
I, Your humble Servant Flavion Highlin, wrote this report on the activities that your team of acolytes have uncovered on this world:
It was early in the morning, or at least I think it was the morning, when we landed and was not even meeted by the commissar in person or at least some kinda of guide. So we left the landing pad and found a senior Sgt who Gathered a CPL to show us the place while he got the attention of the Commissar.
Apparently this commissar liked to remain separate of his men, and so the place looked not cared for. I was very upset to learn that he did not do his job of being a commissar seriously. The morale of the men was suffering severly and when asked about it Cpl. Jurtz said that most of the men ran into some Xenos, men, or demons in the deep mines, and when they left some of them got left behind when the commissar shut the mine.
The Cpl then led us to the the Sgt who introduced us to the Commissar. A Commissar Nihilius, He was well dressed compared to the rest of his men, and given the situation I thought that he might even never had seen the front lines of the battle he sent for us for. He claimed that from what he found some scrolls off of one of the cultists that reveled that they where the advanced force for some evil Cult of Chaos in the mines. So he sent in a dozen or so Platoons of Imperial guard into the mines.
About 45 mikes later he said that they came out of the minds, speaking of horrors that would make an Astartes Frightened. At this point I thought that they just ran afoul of an ambush or some such. He then went on to say that he knew it was in the interest of the inquisition and then had the mines sealed until the inquisitor showed up. He then handed us a map and after a few more pleasentries he left to go get the seal opened for when we were ready. He also said to stop and see what the quarter master could give us.
I then Went to the quartermaster for our team, while Jericho went to speak with the Prisoners(*see his report for what transpired*). He gave us some of the basics, food and water, along with lights and some rope. After some inquiry on my part, I was able to gather up 4 Frag grenades from his person.
After this I met up with Ishmel and Jericho and set off to seal. After we arrived and the seal was lifted up and out of the ground.(it had to be atleast 10 stories high and weighing several tons, it took the pack animals 30 minutes to lift it out of the ground) While we where waiting I was able to get the guards vox frequencies for my micro-bead, in case we needed to get out of there sooner.
After we entered the mine shaft, we carefully made our way around in the dark using the map that the good commissar had given us. the map was of little use as whole parts of the mine had been teared apart by recent movement the planet. At least that is what I had believed at the time. As we made our down into the mine we ran into subsection 5. Which showed signs of conflict and death. The door to the subsection was sealed shut, and despite some effort, it remained sealed.
We then decided to travel further down one of the tunnels and made our way into an area that looked like something big had teared up the ground. Bending the metal supports of the mine and generally making the place looked as if an orgyn had ran through here. (Of course we all know you would never get an orgyn in a place as Dark as a mine, let alone a chimera) As we continued along the path, we found our way into the Shatters, the location where all these terrible things happened according to the guard.
Upon entering the Shatters we encountered, what I can only describe as a vicious mutant of chaos, it was a hulking brute that only seemed to care about killing us. IT was covered in vile boils and had eight eyes. As it marched towards us, I immediately threw up, and was horrified, as any good Emperor fearing man would be under such circumstances. After it struck at me, I snaped to awarness and took a shot at it with my Shotgun, one inferno shell right at its body, causing it to burst into flames, and fall to the ground dead. it then turned out to be one of the guardsmen who was left in the tunnels. Something had turned him into a chaos worshiping mutant.
We then searched the tunnels and ran into several other foul beasts which we eventually dispatched with ease. Further in the tunnels we came across a room that had a heavy door that was ajar, so Jericho opened it and inside was an insane miner named Rat. After giving him some food, and convincing him that the God-Emperor would be proud of him for helping us find out about these chaos scum came from. After a little convincing he went along with us. A few moments later we got into another fight with some mutants, and Rat ran away, (this was the first sign to me that he was a Chaos worshipper, as any loyal servant of the Emperor would attack such a creature with their bare hands if they had to)so we chased him down and tied him up.
It was at this time that we noticed the arms of some of the bodies that had been eaten/killed, had the scaring on their arms of 'Malice'. Rat also had this scaring on his arm, which is why we sent him with this report to you.
We then traveled down the tunnel to where we had noticed some weird lights coming from. Upon entering that room we found what appeared to be a chaos stone, a wave of something sinster passed over us a moment while we looked at it. Right at that moment what appeared to be a demon appeared out of the stone. 1. Seeing that Jericho was arming a grenade, I decided to head for some cover, as I was sure that the grenade wouldn't have killed it, and knew that he would need someone in a position to give him covering fire.
Well the grenade went off and jericho yelled the all clear, Appearently those demons aren't so tough anyway. The grenade had destroyed the warpstone, and the demon. It looked as if the warpstone had dragged the demon to it when it imploded. After we looked over the room, to make sure all trace of this stone was gone, we (jericho and myself) noticed that Ishmel eyes had grown to 4 times it size. We didnt mention this to him, and as we started back to the garrison with Rat, I nodded to Jericho, who shot Ishmel in the back of his grape. This was done as a mercy to Ishmel, may the god emperor purify his soul. After we returned to the top-side, we Debriefed Commissar Nihilius on the situation we faced done there.
After his debrief we sent you this report along with Jericho's report, as well as Rat, who if anything will be a good test subject for new tech. in torture and interrogations.
That my ladyship is all this humble servant has to report at this time. The mines are secured and mining can resume again anew. We shall wait here in the area until the ladyship deems us worth of another mission.

I would be interested in joining a session sometime, if that's possible. I haven't done any role playing in ages but DH looked so fantabulous that it awoke something deep inside me that has long been dormant. I love the 40k universe and have played it for 18 or so years off and on. I don't know much of anything about DH but as I said, would love to join sometime if possible...

Well Then, don't worry about not knowing the system, Stu and I can teach you pretty easily, and making a character takes all of about 10 minutes. Right now I believe that we are planning for a Saturday night game, let us know if that is doable for you. If you want to get together before Saturday to get a run down of some of the rules and to look at the book let me know. Most days (except for this thursday) I am able to be at the haven in the evening and afternoon.

Topic: Acolyte Reports on Sepheris Secundus
by: Acolyte Jericho Cypher
To: Inquisitor Astrid Skane
Inquisitor Skane,
The following is a report of the events that occurred during our investigation of the Gorgonid Mine on Sepheris Secundus.
Flavian, [Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority], and myself made planet fall on Sepheris Secundus with in the Gorgonid Mine Compound. The 97TH Battalion of the Imperial Guard had been sent to quell a rebellion. It was evident upon land fall that a large scale conflict had occurred recently; there was damage to both civilian and military assets, and mass casualties.
Soon after our arrival we found a Sergeant Raynard, he gave us a brief over view of the situation and had CPL Jurtz show us around, while he informed the Commissar of our arrival. The Commissar goes by the name Nihilius. Nihilius has been found wanting in his duties as Commissar and should be brought to the attention of the Ecclesiarchy. Commissar Nihilius separates himself from his men; his quarters are immaculate while his soldiers live in squalor, and morale suffers.
When we met Commissar Nihilius, he gave us further information into the incidents going on with the Gorgonid Mine. He stated that the troops had encountered heavy resistance in a portion of the mines called the Shatters. He also informed us that multiple squads had been sent in, but they suffered mass casualties, and few returned.
After our discussion Flavian and [Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority] went to the Quartermaster, while I went to question the prisoners. The prisoners begged for release, but were of little use. They were in a disheveled state, and fearful of the guards and me. Unable to garnish any information from them I decided to meet my fellow acolytes at the Quartermaster. With the little equipment we were able to procure from him we decided to explore the Gorgonid Mine and assess the threat, and see if further Inquisitorial investigation was needed.
Upon arrival at the mine entrance the seal was being opened by large beasts of burden. We entered and commenced our investigation of the incidents that had been brought to your attention. Seismic activities were evident upon our preliminary investigations because of cave-ins and shifts in the levels of the floors. Small arms fire and explosives damage were also apparent.
As we made our down into the mine we ran into subsection 5. There were signs of conflict and deaths were also evident. The door to the subsection was sealed shut, the power was out to the console and despite our efforts, and it remained sealed.
As we probed deeper into the mines we encountered a dark viscous and rank fluid, samples with others from the mines have been collected. Soon after the fluid we entered the area of the mines called the Shatters, the area were the majority of the combat had occurred. Inside the Shatters, words fail to describe the horrors within; it was like a charnel house. We encountered the spawn of chaos, and brought the Emperor’s Wrath upon them. In our explorations we found a survivor, he answers to the name Rat, he is under our custody, and awaits retrieval for questioning by an Interrogator. He has what appears to be a self inflicted wound that forms the word Malice on his arm.
As we went deeper into the Shatters we encountered what could only be described as some form of chaos artifact. The artifact was a stone of some form that emanated a pink glow and rippled as if flesh. Soon upon seeing the artifact [Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority] fell to the ground, and convulsed a little, upon rising his eyes had grown four times there normal size. [Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority] had been tainted by chaos. Soon after the incident a Plague Bearer was belched forth from the artifact. Soon after seeing the daemon manifest Flavian ran in terror. Undaunted by this blasphemy I proceeded to hurl a grenade into the room and dove for cover. The ensuing blast destroyed both the artifact and the daemon.
We searched the area thoroughly and found nothing else of significance. We exited the mines and I summarily executed [Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority], and may the God Emperor cleanse his soul.
Flavian and I intend to probe further in the meaning of the word Malice on our prisoners arm. We humbly request back-up before proceeding, if you deem it not necessary I trust in your wisdom, and we will continue on.
The mines for the time being are secured, and mining can resume.
Your Humble Servant,
Acolyte Jericho “Cutter” Cypher

Sorry about the not so flattering portrayal of Flavian, John. Was working on this a little and now I don’t feel so bad about mine being long also. I agree this is a great game and setting. That is easy for any one to pick up. We welcome any one that wants to come and join us.
Have you heard about a time for Saturday night?

Dude....yours was better....I did mine like half awake. He didn't run in terror, he made a tactical retreat. I also love the fact that we condemned The Commissar, While he sings our prises we are digging his grave via our Inquisitor. Damn we are evil....
As of right now I believe that after 1800 or 6 in the evening should be good. I know that they are having an L5R tourney saturday, but i believe that is in the afternoon.

Alright....When are we getting together this week? Tomorrow night....or Thursday. I can do both....So I was wondering which would be better. Also I have one person asking, so the sooner we figure it out the better.
We can't do tomorrow night. Let's go for Thurs. 6:00. If I get overwhelmed with con prep, we may have to wrap early, but we can at least complete our scenario and do some experience and whatnot. :)

Topic: Acolyte Reports on Sepheris Secundus
by: Acolyte Flavion Highlin
To: Inquisitor Astrid Skane
My Ladyship,
I, Your humble Servant Flavion Highlin, wrote this report on the activities that your team of acolytes have uncovered on this world:
After receiving your Message and our new Team member, A tech-priest whose name I can't even begin to spell...Dark...something. After introducing ourselves to him we made our way down into the interrogation chambers to have a chat with <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority>. After seeing that he was in no shape to know what was going on around him, we called the imperial Guard Surgeon over to place the chip in the body of <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority>.
We then gathered up some gear and dragged his hide outside of town to drop him off in some rubble. When <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority> awoke we explained to him that the Emperor had decided to take mercy on his soul. (which we all know that a Heretic well never be given the mercy of the Emperor, cept by a bolter shell) <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority> was given some clothing and shoes, along with a canten of water and some field rations. Once he was assured that we were not going to blow his brains out right then and there, he ran off into the darkness like some scum of the ruinous powers.
Heading back to base camp to get some more gear and to allow us to follow Rat without him knowing, we then decided to head after him before the sun raise. As we headed after him we came across a some shanty town with some pig/duck mutated animals and a large enough populace that we decided to take it careful and send in the tech-priest to see what was going on.
Jericho and myself remained on the hill side over looking the city, while we waited on some word from the priest if it was safe to continue. Well after about 30min, I contacted him to learn that he had gotten himself into trouble with the local Law enforcer, Some Local sheriff.
Jericho and myself made our way down to the Tech-priests location and hashed out the issue, but by then the damage was done and half of the town must have known who we where. So we took the Tech-priest off to the side and talked to him, to teach him its best if people didn't know who we served. We talked to the sheriff to see if he had seen <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority>, but he didnt and instead told us about a bounty in the area, an outlaw it seemed. As we listened in on him I saw that several of the patrons in the area had the malice scaring on their flesh as well.
After this we left to follow <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority>. At the edge of town we ran into 5 heavily garbed men, who seemed to know that we were looking for some heretics(Ref. to the comment about the tech-priest earlier). After trying to get them to leave us alone, it degenerated into what one might describe as anarchy. After several seconds of ferious shooting and melee combat, the Heretics lay dead, bound, or had fled. After looking over them, we saw that they had the word malice written on their flesh.
Then a scream from the darkness came, and so we investigated what could have done that. As we neared the body of the heretic that had fled, we ran across a creature which the natives called, Thunder lions. These creatures eat anything...and almost ate us. So seeing that the God-Emperor had left us with a prisoner, and as we all know that heretics die before the righteous, we Left him as bait as the creatures could move faster then we could sprint.
During the incident the Tech-priest was Severely wounded and so we dragged him back to the bar, where the sheriff and some of the patrons where still eating and got him patched up as best as we could. We then rested up and left the priest in the tender care of one of the ladies of the bar. (Wonder how she felt when she found out he is a chem geld....eh...) I then enlisted the aid of the sheriff, as he seemed to hate the cultists as we did, but felt powerless against them, well now he could carry the fight against them in his name.
So when the dawn came we moved out again, this time following <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority> bug...We eventually came across him, and after a moment of running he gave up. As we came up to talk to him, he reviled that he was a bounty hunter, and he showed us proper documentation. He then told us that the person that led this cult, that he infiltrated. All the members had the malice scar on their forearms as a sign of their willingness to follow the ruinous powers.
We took <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority> along with us, as I thought at the time that one extra gun would go a long way in helping us track down this cultist, and truth be told, if their was a grenade thrown, I was going to push him on top of it. After a few hours later, we ran across the outlaws, downed shuttle, and a dust cloud going away from the shuttle. Jericho and myself, called in the imperial guard and had them go to cut off who ever was leaving in such a hurry while we investigated the downed craft.(If I had only known, what I know now....well) We then quickly moved our way into the craft and searched for signs of the cultists or their plans.
As we searched the craft we ran into that pinkish light again from the mission in the mines before, being very careful, Jericho and the others, along with myself, moved to locate the source of it. However, we ran into the map room instead, with a tortured guardsmen inside, we then set him free once we learned that he served the emperor and was also out for revenge on the Cultist leader. (Since then we have learned that he serves you and so we have added him to our cell. If you need him elsewhere this is where a message to him can be sent.)
After freeing him and gathering some of the charts and maps that they had left out, (sent you a copy of said items, who knows if you shall ever need them my ladyship.)we found a hole that led to the mines below the surface of the planet. We slowly made our way down the hole and once all of us where there, we ran into some Nightgangers....(mutants my ladyship, who like the darkness of the ruinous powers to that of the divine light of our emperor.) A short gun fight insued, and at the end of it, the sheriff was badly injured and the path to the ship was collapsed. So we patched him up and left him there, as nothing could get past us, before getting to him.
A few minutes down the tunnel and we ran into some noise from one of the tunnels, so we took another one, it was at this time we lost <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority>and we had assumed that he reverted back to the worship of these beings. As we went down the other tunnel we briefly saw a horde of mutants, with the malice scaring go down the way we came from. We heard a gunshot as we started to head out of the mine, and I think it is safe to assume that the town is going to need a new sheriff.
It was at this time that we where being followed by some of the mutants, and knowing that if we where caught by them, that your ladyship would never get this message, we headed towards the day light, and hide just outside the tunnels till the coast was clear. Then Jericho and myself headed up the side of the rough terrain to contact the imperial guard and have them bring down the Emperors justice on these beings. (once again, if I had only known then, what I know now...Well...) {jakes character, I forgot his name} decided to head down towards the ship to notify us of what was going on with it, should the mutants be doing something in it. (see his report as to what occurred )
As we reached the hill top I called out on <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority> Secured Imperial Guard Commissars channel. It was then that I got the first really bad feeling from this supposedly loyal servant. "Oh now you need the might of the guard, why can't you do it yourself..." I then informed him it was our duty, as loyal servants to the emperor to make sure these cultist died. He then said reinforcements were on the way.
It was at this time, that we noticed the shuttles engines where test firing, so Jericho and myself made our way down the slope towards the ship. As we arrived and Jericho was about to throw a grenade at the engines, another shuttle arrived, however Jericho and myself remained in cover. As the shuttle landed and the ramp lowered, the commissar Steped out of it. However no guardsmen were behind him.
Using his channel, I made contact to see if my fears were justified. "So where are the reinforcements commissar?"
"They are coming soon..."He said in a tone that just drinched with evil intent. He then pulled out an Aupex and located our position and made his way towards us. I had Jericho line up a shot on him, to shot him should he make a hostile action towards us. So I used myself as bait, popping out of cover. As soon as I did so, he fired his bolt pistol at me, but the emperor protects as not one round came close to me.
Jericho then fired at him, as I moved closer and into cover. Jericho and myself continued this way of tactics, till {jake's PC} and <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority> started to attack the Mutated commissar, as each round and shell that found its mark, he turned more and more into a servant of the Ruinous powers. As this ferious fight continued, a huge Plague bearer, crashed his way out of the downed shuttle. Jericho then turned his fire on it towards great effect.
As I made my way closer still towards the commissar, I made ready my last inferno shell, and fired it. Emperor was with me, as I set that Cultist aflame. As his body burned, he stopped looking human and instead took up the look of a diseased ridden corpse. We fought it and during the fight <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority> Turned his back on the emperor and sided with the mutates...As the commissar died, the plaguebearer got close to me, and puked its acid and flith on me. But as the Emperor protects, I have not become a lesser man from it. It was at that moment that the plaguebearer lost its hold on reality and disapated into the warp.
We then Executed <Name Expunged by Inquisitorial Authority>. As we regained our senses from the fight however....The shuttle started to lift off the ground, and jericho threw the grenade at the cracked hull of the shuttle. however the grenade bounced off the hull of the ship and almost killed us.
We however did not become discouraged, infact we pour ourselves over the maps and charts that we gathered from the ship along with the logs of the captain to find where they might be heading on the planet. We moved back towards the tpwn, and made this report to be sent to you as soon as we find a way to get it to you.
I found it hard to believe that a supposedly loyal subject of the Emperor, and of course one who is supposed to pass the Emperors judgement on his troops, could fall into league with the ruinous powers. As such, Jericho and myself, Would recommend a team be sent here to purge the guard unit here of any heresy or taint.
As ever we look into any trace of where these cultist could have gone, and will continue to hunt them down until given a new mission.
Emperor Protects,
Acolyte Flavion Highlin
Thought of the day:You carry the Emperors will as your Torch, with it destroy the darkness.

Topic: Acolyte Reports on Sepheris Secundus
by: Acolyte Jericho Cypher
To: Inquisitor Astrid Skane
Inquisitor Skane,
The following is a report of the events that occurred after investigation of the Gorgonid Mine on Sepheris Secundus.
We received the equipment and extra personnel with your instructions on how to proceed with our investigation. The tech priest you have assigned us should be a great asset to our investigative team.
Using the tracking mechanism you have provided we placed it under the skin of our prisoner Rat while he was unconscious and a medic was administering medical aid. Once Rat regained consciousness we released as you had ordered. We escorted him to a location away from the base of the 97TH Battalion, and had the tech priest forge documentation of inquisitorial pardon.
After giving Rat some time to put space between him and ourselves we gave pursuit using the tracking beacon. As we followed the beacon we stumbled upon the outskirts of a small shanty town, and that description is being quiet generous. I have annotated the location of this area on the maps that will be sent with this message. Trying to use discretion we sent the tech priest into the town to see if he could garner any information about the area.
Most of the events I can not account for until after we had to proceed into town and rescue him from himself. We were able to gather some information from the local authority as to where our mark was and the surrounding area he was located. We also found out some information about a bounty in the same area as Rat. As we were making our way out of the town we were attacked by some local townsfolk. Through observation, we noticed that the group had the word malice carved on their arms, and seemed to be against our compatriots inquires into heretics. After a brief fire fight, the assailants tried to flee into the desert. As we gave chase we were attacked by a form of indigenous wild life from the feline family genus called Storm Lions. Our compatriot the tech priest was badly injured during the fire fight and ensuing attack by the animals. We returned to the town and left him in the care of what I could only describe as an inn and inn keeper. We also procured the services of the sheriff.
We waited till sun rise to proceed after Rat. As we got closer to the site the sheriff had explained was the site of the bounties crashed vessel, and where our query had been stationary on our tracking device, we saw Rat sitting at a small camp site and the vessel was absent. We called out to Rat, and upon seeing us approach he attempted to escape. After realizing the futility of running from the servants of the Divine Emperor, he gave up and fell to the ground. After asking why he was fleeing us, he explained that he was a bounty hunter who had been chasing after the bounty the sheriff had told us about earlier. He explained that he had carved the word malice into his name to infiltrate the cult, and that the bounty was a member. We offered Rat to accompany us, and told him he could have the bounty for his assistance.
The vessel seemed to have been dragged away, so we decided to follow the trail. After a few hours of following the trail we came upon the vessel, and observed a dust cloud leaving the vicinity. Flavian using the micro bead frequencies got from the commissar; he radioed Commissar Nihilius and asked that he send a detachment to intercept what was ever leaving the vicinity.
We proceeded to search the vessel for any clues. As we explored the vessel we encountered the familiar pinkish light that saw in the Shatters portion of the Gorgonid Mines. Proceeding cautiously we delved further into the ship and came upon a map room with a Guardsman chained to a chair. He was showed signs of torture. After questioning him, we found that he was in service of the emperor, and freed him and allowed him to join us. Flavian also confiscated some maps from the room. We commenced our search of the vessel and found a hole leading down into what appeared an extension of the mines.
Upon entering the tunnels we encountered mutants, with out hesitation we purged them from this existence. The tunnel entrance caved in around us during our fire fight. The sheriff was gravely wounded in the confrontation, but Rat kindly administered medicae. Shortly after the firefight we proceeded further into the mines, we had to leave the Sheriff at the site of the cave in due to his injuries. Soon after leaving the cave in we heard voices coming towards us. We back tracked and took a different route, and took up positions of concealment; it is at this time that I noticed Rat was no longer among us. We observed a large group of mutants enter the area and proceed to the cave in. Our fellow guardsman made some racket while trying to observe what was going on, and this alerted the mutants to our presence. Knowing that we would not be able to take them all we made a tactical withdrawal; as we moved a gun shot rang out, and I can only assume that the Sheriff is with the emperor now.
Upon exiting the mines, we discovered we were in a large field that was pock marked with the same hole we came out of. We took cover near the entrance, to see if we were followed. Two mutants popped their heads out of the mine entrance. Not able to spot us they proceeded back in. Flavian and myself proceeded to a large hill near our location to try and obtain better communication with the Commissar and his detachment. Flavian was able to contact Commissar Nihilius and requested assistance. The other guardsman in our party (whose name eludes me currently) decided to check on the shuttle and report any changes to the situation. Flavian told me that the Commissar had been informed, and that reinforcements were enroute. Emboldened by the knowledge that we would soon be cleansing this blight from the planet, we headed back to the shuttle.
As we approached the shuttle started testing the engines. When we neared the shuttle I prepared to throw a grenade into one of the engines disabling it, and stopping it from attempting to take off. Before I was able to a single shuttle rounded the hill we had just left. Flavian and I took cover and observed our new arrival. Commissar Nihilius exited the shuttle sans reinforcements. I heard Flavian talking to the Commissar over his micro bead. Judging from the conversation it appears the Commissar was a servant of the ruinous powers. He pulled something from his pocket and started to look down at it, and scan with it. I can only assume it was a auspex, because after a brief instant he looked in our general direction and walked towards us. I placed my sites on the Commissar and Flavian exited from cover, upon seeing Flavian stand the Commissar opened fire on him with a bolt pistol.
A fire fight ensued; I repeatedly put rounds into the Commissar, while Flavian tactically advanced on the Commissar. With each shot the Commissar became more and more monstrous, sprouting tentacles, and growing in size. From out of the vessel Rat came and joined the fray with Flavian the guardsman, and myself. Flavian discharged an inferno shell from his shotgun igniting the creature. If this was not enough a Plague Bearer exited the vessel. Seeing that the others were to preoccupied with the creature, I turned my attention on the approaching daemon. The Emperor must have been watching over me as my las bolts struck true each time. During the fight Rat had some how consumed some flesh off of the creature, and mutated into a mutant. The creature, Plague Bearer, and Rat were all pacified and sent to what ever screaming hell they reside, Flavian unfortunately was belched on by the daemon.
After the firefight the vessel lifted off, and I tried in vain to throw a grenade into an engine or a whole in the bulkhead, but to no avail. The vessel took off leaving behind it a pink vapor trail. We confiscated the Commissar’s vessel and went back to the base camp of the Imperial Guard.
In this Acolyte’s humble opinion the detachment of Imperial Guard should thoroughly be checked for any heretical or deviant beliefs or behavior. Both the cities and mines need to be systematically cleansed of all taint. There is a larger conspiracy here than previously suspected. This cult named Malice seems to be larger than we had previously expected. It is truly a loss that a Commissar would turn from the light of the Emperor. Flavian, the guardsman, and myself are pouring over the maps and are seeing if we can figure out were the vessel might have gone. We will continue our work here, until you have need of us elsewhere.
Your Humble Servant,
Acolyte Jericho “Cutter” Cypher

Good news....after I got to the hospital they sent me home to start the shift tonight at 12...and I will be starting the other shift at 12 as well tomorrow....So that means that we can get a few hours in tomorrow.
Who is up for it?

I know this is an old thread....however I am planning next week to start up my game on saturday nights. Right now I dont know where I would do it. however regardless of where I do, I am only looking for 3-4 peeps....and the reason why is because I know stu has longed to get in this game, and thus I have reserved him a seat well in advance.

Judge Dreya Rook is still quite on the list.
However, other -stranger- things have been percolating and may surface for Saturday.
If they do not pan out, or if they do and can encompass both sets of character generationing, then I will be pleased to see which ideas coalesce best.
I figure 3-4 characters tops, and I pick the one I like best...
