View Full Version : Aerotech 2
Anyone play this? I have the rulebook, a few other sourcebooks, and a warship mini and would like to give it a try.
Wanted to see if anyone plays it before I invest in any more miniatures or such.

Omar,
I don't know anyone who plays. I've never played Aerotech. Possibly Luis Nunez (sp?).

I have Aerotech 2, never had a chance to play it fully. Only used the abstract dogfighting rules when my players were Marik fighter pilots. Only used it in my Mechwarrior campaigns.
Thats why I bought it to begin with, I wanted to run a Mechwarrior campaign set on a dropship (or warship, if they went clan)... but never got around to it. My interest in Battlestar Galactica has inspired me to break it out and actually give it a try, I just need to find others who would be interesed.

Heck...I'd be interested. I don't have any minis though.
I have a big vinyl hex-map which would work for space combat. What I dont have are any record sheets (they say that the printed record sheet book is highly suspect, they made alot of mistakes in it). Heavy Metal: Aero was recommended to me, but considering I dont have a PC, it wouldnt do me any good. Does the store have a computer with a printer we could use?
As for mini's, I dont think they are absoltuely necessary. I have the punch-out counters that came with the book. I also have the Technical Readout for 3057, which is all the Dropships and Warships.
What faction do you play? I might post to the CBT forums and see what a good 'beginner battle' list would be for us.
Also, what day can you play?

I have Heavy Metal Aero also. Let me know days are good for you and I can see what I can do. As for faction, I don't really have a favorite because I don't play it very often. I use it mostly to supplement my Battletech/Mechwarrior campaigns.
You planning to run a Mechwarrior campaign anytime soon? I would be interested in playing if the game day (and location) works with my schedule.
Anyway, what I have been told is to pick 2-3 warships, a few flights of fighters, and do a game with that. I guess dropships tend to complicate things when you use all three.
I favor Jade Falcon or Clan in general myself. If you have HM:Aero, that would be awesome.. I will put a list together when we get a date and if you can do the record sheets, that would be great.

Actually I am planning a Battletech campaign set in the Dark Age, but this will a long time because I am taking part in a campaign right now. If you are talking about a Mechwarrior RPG campaign that might be different. But I am thinking of running other RPGs at the moment, once I can get a group together. I plan on advertising on the boards in the near future. Since you are Falcon, you know I have to be Wolf (or Wolf in Exile to just rub things in) I also have squadron sheets in case you want to group the fighters instead of having 20-30 record sheets to deal with.
Yea, fighter squadrons are the way to go.
If you really want to play as the Lyran Lapdogs, thats your buisness. I prefer the true Clan Wolf, Vlads wolves, but hey.. whatever works. ;)
And yes, I would be interested in playing in a MW3 campaign. I have pretty much every MW3 book that would be of any use to a clan player, have made more characters than I can remember, and tried to get into several games.. but it never really works out. Of course, I wont have much in the way of free time for awhile either. When you do get a group together, just let me know.

Actually one idea of a Clan campaign I was think was following a group of Smoke Jaguars from the beginning of the Invasion to the end of the Clan. I would take a group and start from the trial of position and go from there. It would be interesting to see what decisions would be made in that time. Will they go out in a blaze of glory? Become bondsmen to Kurita, other Clans? Will they become renegades or worse mercenaries. Will they fight at Tukayyid? Luthien? Huntress? What would happen if they fail their Trial of Position? What if they become Warden? The possibilities would be interesting.
Ohhh.. I like! I like alot!
One of the big gripes I had with FASA, and later FanPro was that for MW3 they did not publish ANY info on the Smoke Jaguars. As in, they gave clan speicifc traits and rules for every other clan, but not the Jags. Now, I know it isnt necessary for 'modern' games, but what about before the clan is destroyed? How about for Jaguars who are still around?
When I did play in an online game the guys who were Jaguars played it as though they were bondsmen from other clans who became Jags later, so they would have the traits and such from their original clan.
Anyway, like I said, you figure out a date and such, and hopefully I can make it in.

Still want to try to get a game of Aerotech going? My Mechwarrior campaign will likely be a few months away?
Yea, sure thing. What does your schedule look like?

Speaking of Aerotech, I just got my proposal for the Smoke Jaguar fleet scheme canonized and it is online at Camospecs.
Here is a pic. Hope you like it!

VERY nice work. Thats part of why I wanted to get into AT2.. easy to paint a fleet. Of course, they made the JF scheme a pain in the butt to actually do.. feathers? Gah!

Very nice pic, squevitch. Omar let me know when is a good time for you. I'd love to get a pick-up game of Aerotech.
What days work for you? Did you want to do it at the store, or somewhere else?
I dont get off until 7, Monday through Friday, so a game at the store probably isnt an option. Weekends are tied up until April, unless you wanted to come by my place one evening.. Sunday would work best, but you have to put up with my friends painting and Battlestar Galactica and Rome on TV. ;)

Sunday might work...I will get back with you. And Rome and BSG are two of my favorite shows. Damn shame that Rome only has one episode left. But it was a great ride.
Thats if they dont do a 3rd season...

Doesn't look like it. HBO is pulling the plug.
Really? Where did you find that out? I kinda hope they do, but hope they dont at the same time. Not much else you can do with the series.. I mean, once this final battle happens (and not to ruin the ending, but Octavian wins), we have the first Roman Emperor and the rest is.. well.. history.
I should buy up season 1 sometime soon.

Not sure where I heard it, but it was too expensive. Also last week said this would be the series (not season) finale. I am like you that I wish it would continue, but in a way it does downhill from there. Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Nero and that's the end of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. And Season One is a bit pricey (about $80) but its worth it.
Yea, but its cheaper than BSG... I want to get those on sale.
I can afford two seasons of a great series like ROME. I am with you too... they COULD keep it going, but it would just get cheesey, and loose alot of what makes it a good series. They would either have to re-use the actors in different roles many years down the line, or make up drama to use for a story. Either way, better to kill it while its at a natural end and a success...
