EDIT: Here's a quick'n'dirty errata list, so players are aware of some of the conventions that are in effect for GH RTTs. They will also be provided the morning of the 8th during check-in. The Gamer's Haven, Tournament Organizer and Support Staff reserve the right to final rulings duirng the day of the RTT.

DROP PODS - The rules that are currently in the Dark Angels and Blood Angels codeci will be in effect for ALL Space Marine drop pods, so there will be no confusion as to how they work (none of this chinzy 'pick a point, roll 11" and deviate only part of the way because X" away from my landing point is another model'... you deviate the full distance rolled from your point, or at least 1" BEYOND that point if landing on ANY model/impassable terrain at the deviated point).

Q. What constitutes the Deployment Zone board edge for the purposes of deploying reserves for both Corner and Long Board Edge deployment missions?
A. Corner deployment - The table edges that make up the deployment table quarter (i.e. 2'+3' of table edge).
Long Board Edge deployment - The full long deployment table edge, plus both short table edges that make up part of the deployment zone (i.e. 6'+12"+12" of table edge).

Q. When do you roll for reserves, and at what point do those models have to come onto the board?
A. All reserve rolls are made at the start of the turn, before anything else. Once you have determined which units will be available that turn, they may move on from the table edge during your movement phase. DEEP STRIKING models/units that become available on your turn come on the table before any other movement is made.

Q. Drop pod foot print. A standard size would be nice and do they block LOS when they land, especially if you keep some petal doors up and some down?
A. For the purposes of the Annual RTT, the footprint of a drop pod should approximate to the large blast template (5"), and roughly 8” in height.

Q. Can Drop Pods ‘Scatter’ of the table?
A. Yes. Drop Pods use the rules for Deep Striking when ‘landing’, as such they are able to scatter off table and if they do are destroyed as described in the Deep Strike rules on page 84 of the Rule book.

Q. If Jump Infantry Deep Strike into difficult terrain do they have to take a Dangerous Terrain test?
A. Yes

Q. If a unit with the Fleet ability Deep Strikes, can it then fleet instead of shooting?
A. No, units may not move on the turn they Deep Strike.

Q. Do mystics allow free shots at the drop pod, the squad, both or not at all?
A. The unit may fire at the drop pod before the models inside have disembarked. The drop pod counts as a vehicle that has traveled over 12”.

Q. If a model with a Rapid Fire weapon moves and fires at a target unit within 12", up to what range can the defending player remove casualties from this weapon? At the "range" of the weapon (typically 24” or 30"), or is the 12" limitation the de facto "range" that turn?
A. Models should be removed within the Rapid fire range of the weapon, i.e. 12”.

Q. Can you shoot at enemy units through the legs of a vehicle with a base such as a sentinel, dreadnought, or monstrous creature?
A. No, as the base itself is used to determine what LoS is blocked, you would not be able to shoot through the legs of a model.

Q. When a multiple-wound unit (that already contains a wounded model) suffers a wound that will cause instant death, is the owning player compelled to put it on an unwounded (whole?) model or can they choose to place it on the already wounded model?
A. Yes, you must remove whole unwounded models where possible from an Instant Death attack.

Q. Can Space Marines assault from a Drop Pod? It is open-topped and has deployed by deep-strike rather than moving a set distance.
A. No, units cannot assault the turn they Deep Strike, even from a Drop Pod.

Q. Dark Angels/Blood Angels Command Squads and Independent Characters are bought as a single HQ choice, but are separate units. Does this means in Escalation if the Command Squad has a transport that the Independent Character must start on the board on his own?
A. Yes

Q. Does an Independent Character (from an older codex) that takes a retinue fully lose their Independent Character status, or do they simply follow the rules for "Retinues" as found on page 51 of the rulebook instead? Or is this determined on a codex by codex basis (for example, Tau seem to lose their Independent Character status if they take a retinue while Black Templars, Space Marines and Tyranids do not)?
A. It is determined on a codex-by-codex basis.

Q. When an Independent Character is joined to or part of unit and that unit is wiped out by shooting at what point does the character become independent, and can enemy units that fired at the unit still assault the remaining character?
A. As soon as the last model in the unit is killed the character will return to being independent. Units may still assault the character if they shot at the original unit.

Q. When Independent Characters are joined to, or part of a unit and that unit is wiped out by shooting or close combat, does the character still have to take Morale and Pinning tests as if he was part of the unit (including the -1 Ld modifier for the unit being under 50% strength)?
A. No, he returns to being an independent character and would test as normal.

Q. If a Farseer casts fortune on a unit that he has joined at the start of the turn and then decides to leave the unit who does fortune remain in play on?
A. It remains on the unit it was originally cast on.

Q. Can Eldar jet bikes that use the turbo booster special rule for bikes make their extra 6” move in the assault phase?
A. Eldar Jet bikes may not move in the assault phase after turbo-boosting.

Q. Do Reaver Jet bikes count as being Eldar jet bikes for the purposes of extra movement in the assault phase?
A. Yes

Q. Can Fire Prisms using the combined shot ability count the raised strength against a Monolith?
A. Yes

Q. Does this mean a model with a powerfist loses the double strength bonus when attacking a monolith?
A. No, it will still receive the double strength bonus against a Monolith.

Q. Where do I measure the range of a vehicle for the purposes of claiming objectives? Does the entire model have to be in range?
A. Measure from the vehicles hull for the purposes of claiming objectives. The entire model must be within range in order to capture Loot Counters in Secure & Control, to count as being in the opponent’s deployment zone in Recon or to secure the centre of the board in Take & Hold. In order to contest/claim a table quarter in cleanse the rules in the scenario will apply.

Q. If in the last turn of a game a vehicle is crew stunned does it count as immobile for the purposes of VP scoring?
A. No. The rules for Crew Stunned state that the vehicle may not move or shoot in its next turn therefore it is unaffected at the end of the game.

My Exorcists are all converted Rhinos, with some sort of Missile Launcher on the top. Is that acceptable?

That is correct. The only army being allowed from WD/CA is the Blood Angels since their legal Codex IS the two White Dwarf articles (or the .pdf downloaded from online...).

My Exorcists are all converted Rhinos, with some sort of Missile Launcher on the top. Is that acceptable?
Yes, GW "conversion rules" are still in effect. As long as the model is 90% GW, conversions for models either not in production (Drop Pods) or no longer in production (Exorcists), they will be allowed. And for drop pods, we will allow reasonable conversions of less than 90% GW, as long as they are appropriate dimensions (refer to Forge World models for diameter and heigth).

I'll have the QnD Errata up tonight (and I'm hoping pending further review it will become the MLGC version of an FAQ for the Haven).

Jason,
I don't want to spark a rules debate :). But I was wondering what your ruling is going to be for Lash for the tournament?

Mainly can a person use lash to:
1. Clump a unit together for template bait,

2. re-arrange models (to put ac's at the front of the kill zone for instance).

3. For targetting purposes is lash considered a weapon and thus follow all the restrictions for targetting?

just need to know so I can put the finishing touch's on my list. (and no I'm not taking a lash but I need to know so that I can plan for it if someone else is ;) ).

Simple enough after reading it:
1 & 2. Yes, the Chaos player can move the affected non-vehicle unit up to 2D6" in any manner, following the restrictions in the powers description.

3. As is stated in the power's description, it is used 'instead' of another ranged weapon, happens in the Shooting phase, and the enemy unit must be 'visible to the psyker and within 24" '... I'd say that about follows the normal targeting rules, wouldn't you? ;)

i think the question might be, how many librarians will attend the Annual? Or Callidus assassins?

Jason, How does blocking all the access points of a vehicle, then causing damage enough to make embarked passengers disembark work ,if passengers can just stay inside the area of the vehicle more than an inch from the blocking units? Are they still dead or do they avoid that fate?

Jason,

I just found the QnD Erratta. It looks to me like you are taking a lot from the UK GT FAQ, which I think is a good idea.

What is your plan on how to treat other FAQs from the UK GT FAQ not addressed by the QnD FAQ. Can we reference the UK GT FAQ in game for other answers?

I strongly agree with your change to their FAQ regarding Deep Striking reserves. I don't think they understand what they really wrote and how much it changes the game.

I think Mike raises a good question with how do you close hatch troops in a transport if they are allowed to disembark into a wreck. The answer you are currently using was included in the original UK GT FAQ. However, I think people brought this contradiction to their attention. Now if you look at the most recent version of the UKGTFAQ, you'll see that they reversed themselves and said troops can not disembark into the wreck of their transport. I would suggest using this interpretation to avoid conflict.

I had an additional question not addressed by the UKGTFAQ (?I even emailed it to them but didn't get an answer).

How do tank shocking skimmers work? There are a couple different schools of thought on this one as it really is a big grey area in the rules. I suggest you make a ruling pre-tournament just so everyone knows how to play it.

The most intuitive school of thought (I believe) is that during a tank shock, a skimmer can still ignore terrain and fly over enemy and friendly troops without affecting them if you wish. However, to tank shock an enemy unit entirely within cover/terrain, the skimmer tank must take an appropriate dangerous terrain test in order to 'contact' them.

Some people have claimed a skimmer tank doesn't need to take a dangerous terrain test because "they always ignore terrain". They have parts of the rulebook to back them up, but I'd prefer if you just made a ruling on how to play in general.

Thanks in advance.

-Donovan

I have a question regarding the UK FAQ posted by Donovan. For Chaos it says that Tz Sorcerers can't use their force weapon power in the same turn as using another power. I don't have my codex with me, but I thought the point of Tz was that you could use two different psy powers provided they weren't both "shooting" powers. Since the force weapon isn't a shooting attack, I'd think it should be ok.

PURGATUS

Please note that Big J changed some of the rulings for our purposes (a.k.a. common sense prevails at the Haven).

He most likely didn't even bother addressing that Q 'cause their ruling is totally not supported in the book. Since peeps may not have their 'dexes handy it reads like this: guys with the mark of Tz can use 2 powers per player turn... your Asp Sorc can only ever have 1 power anyways... guess where the second one comes in handy for? [pssst: force weapon]

now this ruling was prolly made for the Chaos Sorc who can technically own 3 powers (including the force weapon) and accidentally use all 3 on his player turn. but even then they made a bad ruling since there is only 1 power that can even allow that to happen. that power is warptime...

thank you Jason for the application of common sense. basically Steph, yo coo :D unless you're talkin Arhiman... that's a different story :)

The escort, Divine Knowledge, sat motionless in deep space, waiting. The majority of its systems shut down or set to minimum power levels, making it virtually invisible. On the command deck, Master Adept Corian passed the time in quiet contemplation. The ship’s crew attended to their duties about him with nary a sound. Soon the others would arrive at the rendezvous. Divine Knowledge had been closest when the summons came, and so he was offered this moment of peace before the coming storm. Since their banishment from the Eye of Terror, the Master Adept had continued to serve his mentor, Ahriman, in his quest for the knowledge that would give humanity ultimate control over the warp.

The summons had contained little more information than a rendezvous location and time, but it had come from Ahriman himself. Whatever relic or piece of knowledge Ahriman had discovered, it must be of immense importance to warrant the presence of the Chief Librarian of the Thousand Sons himself. To make matters even more intriguing, Corian had received word that he wasn’t the only Master Adept ordered to halt current operations and move out. The rendezvous’ proximity to Haven’s World and the high priority put on stealth could only mean that Haven’s World was indeed their destination, but why? While in stealth mode, his ship could only perceive its surroundings through passive sensors, but that had been enough to reveal the passage of several fleets, all of them on a heading towards Haven’s World.

What importance could such a small, backwater world have to so many and varied commanders? What item of arcana does Ahriman consider so vital as to risk both himself and a significant percentage of his remaining forces? Only time would tell, and, to one who had lived almost ten thousand years, two or three more days would pass as quickly as the blink of an eye.

Thanks for the great turn out, guys. I just wish Mother Nature (and work schedules) had cooperated more so there could've been even more on hand. The day was actually easy as far as judging goes (everyone had their 'A' game and only minor queries not covered in the rules). As a follow up, is there anything players would like to see different with the RTTs? There's a bit of fudge room allowed for things and I can go over any questions about requirements or scoring. I'm also going to run several RTT paint clinics, with the help of Timbo (he judged on Saturday and was actually very impartial and stuck to the check sheet... it's not that hard to get all 9 checks IF you know what the Judge will be looking for, so I want to help everyone get those easy points).

Here's a new post, just for the discussion of Haven RTTs (40K and WFB):
