WARBANDS HAVE CLASHED IN THE CITY OF THE DAMNED!!
Death Dealer's zombies and ghouls advancing forward in a tight pack, were met head on by Toxiad the Dagger's henchmen while several Black Skaven searched quickly for wyrdstone shards. After a short skirmish which left half of the zombies again lifeless, Death Dealer fled the field leaving abundant wyrdstone shards behind. Toxiad's gang suffered only a single henchman casualty, however one Black Skaven was given a permanent nervous condition after diving from a second story building to attack a ghoul heading his way. After the battle during a search of the area, a single surviving resident of Mordheim was found by the skaven who promptly sold him to slavers.

CONTINUED CHAOS IN MORDHEIM!!
As the battles rage in Mordheim and wyrdstone is collected, no definate leader has emerged. Several warbands are expanding and filling thier coffers, however a Skaven Warband has suffered a sudden leadership change after just one foray into the cursed city, when a Middenheim henchman severed the head of Blithe the Fierce! One of his cronies, Stilink the Dagger, has assumed command and is attempting to keep the Warband together. In the latest encounter, a new Skaven Warband led by Lashake of the Northern Wastes, and another group of Undead fought a skirmish amid the ruins. The heavy hitter of the day was a huge Rat oger brought by the Skaven. This monsterous beast engaged 3 Dregs, a Ghoul and a Necromancer for most of the battle. When a Dire Wolf attacked the Rat Oger from behind, taking a huge chunck out of it tail, it responded by turning it's full attention to this new threat and promptly tore it in two. After suffering several more casualties, the Vampire leading this unholy host descided he had had enough. This section of the city is now claimed by the Skaven. As this report is being written, Warbands are moving within the city, and more combat is expected.

BLOOD IN THE STREETS!!
The blood continues to flow as warbands fight, while searching for precious wyrdstone. Skaven are the most numerous vermin which prey on this mortally wounded city and have proved to be the most successful. Recently the Holy Sisters of Sigmar have ventured out of their island fortress to confront these unholy visitors, but have yet to cleanse the streets of their foul presence. In the most recent confrontation, their Mother Superior chose to "live to fight another day" after several of her sisters fell from the skaven assault. Dwarves have also come from Karak-Kadrin with their stout hearts however even their legendary hard-headedness could not help them from seemingly overwhelming Skaven numbers and speed. With so many plundering this cursed city, it is certain that the bloodshed will go on!

Week #2 Standings:
1. Warp'd Fury's Gang - 114 (Skaven)
2. Toxiade's Gang - 113 (Skaven)
3. Death Dealer II - 104 (undead)
4. Knure's Gang - 102 (Skaven)
5. Death Dealer I - 84 (Undead)
6. Stilink's Gang - 75 (Skaven)
7. Alexandria's Sisters of War - 74 (Sisters of Sigmar)
8. Boogly Boo's Company - 71 (Mercenary)
9. Dragg's Treasure Hunters - 70 (Dwarves)
10. Lashake's gang - 66 (Skaven)

Didn't know anyone else knew that Mordheim existed. Me and two other guys have been running Mordheim for the the last two years and love it. We have a mess of desolate buildings and other city terrain. Would love to get in on Mordheim with a bigger group. When/where do you get your games in? J.

Any Mordheim interest out there? Would like to continue the above campaign started after my last trip away. I would like to play at least once a month until Christmas. Monday or Friday evenings works best for me. I can host at my house on Mondays since the Haven is not open.

Bottom line? Let's play!:p

MULTIPLE WARBANDS CLASH IN THE CURSED CITY!!

GARIFE'S GANG of skaven, bolstered by a unknown "Beastmen of Chaos" warband, were attempting to "Breakthrough" an area occupied by the dark elf warband KAROND KAR of the House of Chilland Slayers and an as of yet unidentified "Cult of the Possessed" warband lead by BLARG HUNK.
This was Garife's first foray in to the city with this new warband since being sent by the sorcerer Naszuss to collect warpstone, so he only wanted to see how they would respond to the horrors of the city and hold up in the face of close combat. Using as much cover as possible, he advanced them through the alleys and rubble filled streets, being careful to not unnecessarily expose them to direct fire. To his right the beastmen adopted a similar strategy, keeping their "Herd" together behind a group of hounds sniffing for hidden enemies. As the gang proceeded, a sudden hail of crossbow bolts from a Dark Elf Corsair, rained from a second story window and took down a giant rat crossing the street. Garife liked to keep these beasts around for just such a reason. It seemed from the sounds of battle that the beastmen were dealing with a similar situation, however with better results. Garife perceived that the warband facing him was inexperienced because the members were spread out and not mutually supporting each other. This was further confirmed by several piece meal attacks which only rewarded the Possessed warband with losing several members, one of which was believed to be their leader Blarg. “Orz the Knife” a black skaven always looking for a target to use his fighting claws upon, charged from his concealed position in the cemetery the warband was passing through and engaged a possessed cultist executing one of these attacks. Even though the cultist was joined by a dark elf, they failed to put down Orz before he was reinforced by two giant rats, summoned by the warband’s sorcerer Suzse before the battle began, which tipped the scale in the skavens favor. Garife was looking for the Possessed warband to route due to losses already suffered when a Dark Elf Corsair jumped from a second story catwalk and successfully eliminated the skaven leader from participation in the remainder of the battle. Now he would see how his gang would perform. But before this was fully realized the Cult of the Possessed had decided they had had enough followed closely by the Beastman Herd. With the situation not developing in their favor, Karond Kar voluntarily withdrew allowing the skaven to continue unhindered and claim this section of the city. After fully recovering from his ordeal, Garife was overheard saying the encounter with the “diving dark elf” felt like a bag of bricks landing on his head. He will definitely be more aware of the possibility of attacks from above in his next raid into Mordheim, City of the Damned.

Participants Standings:
1. KAROND KAR -150 (Dark Elf) Kevin O'Born
2. Un-named -112 (Beast of Chaos) Jeremy Potts
3. GARIFE"S GANG -91 (Skaven) Rick Hagan

Hooray for Dark Elves!

Let it be stated that the Karond Kar warband's leader, Natel Chillhand, executed SEVERAL incompetent warriors after this little foray into Mordheim. Following this culling, the House Chillhand warriors made another expedition into the cursed city...

The Chillhand Elves found themselves facing off against the Beastmen and a group of their hated foes, the Shadow Warriors of Nagarythe! Natel Chillhand decided that, since the numerical superiority advantage belonged to his foes, it would be smarter to turn that advantage into a disadvantage. The plan was to use the Beastmen as a weapon to crush the High Elves mercilessly. Completely disregarding the central building objective, they moved around the city in order to herd the Beastmen into the Shadow Warriors. Once battle was joined between those two, the Chillhands then moved to occupy the building and use the higher ground to rain crossbow fire onto the remaining Beastmen who had destroyed the High Elves. Much to their surprise, once the building was captured, a High Elf Shadow Weaver was discovered hiding out on an upper floor just standing around drooling on himself! While Eredori and Akiridin Heartslayer, the two Chillhand Fellblades, were debating whether it would be more entertaining to continue watching the Elf make a fool of himself or to put him out of his misery, the Weaver proceeded to simply walk off of the building and nearly plunge to his death! Thinking the time was nigh, Sylaris, the Corsair Sorceress, proceeded to mercilessly execute the fallen Shadow Elf while berating the Fellblades on the floor above for their laziness.

With a dozen Chaos Hounds harmlessly baying at the Dark Elves from the ground outside the building, the remaining Beastmen decided not to chance the deadly crossbow fire coming from the building and fled the field with a small cadre of elves in pursuit. Most escaped, but one unlucky Ungor was taken down with accurate fire while another was captured in the Dark Elf nets. The day was won with the Dark Elves proceeding to loot the buildings nearby and return to their vessel in order to plan another raid in the Cursed City.

Participants Final Standings:
1. KAROND KAR -190 (Dark Elf Corsairs) Kevin O'Born
2. Un-named -140 (Shadow Warriors) Matt Coughlin
3. Un-named -100 (Beastmen Raiders) Jeremy Potts

A BUSY DAY IN MORDHEIM!
The end of the year brought much conflict in the rubble filled streets of Mordheim as all warbands took advantage of the holiday season to get in some needed experience and additional exploration.
It began with Garife’s Gang making another appearance to complete a “Warpstone Hunt” and again running into Karond Kar which eagerly challenged them to the possession of the streets. Although the outcome was not quite as profitable as the skaven Garife had planned, the encounter with a more seasoned opponent did boost his warbands experience and they were able to acquire some much needed skills.
Soon afterwards Toxure’s Gang was “Surprise Attacked” during their first raid into the city by a group of Tomb Guardians from the land of Khermi. Despite the fact that Toxure of Skavenblight and 2 of his associates were put down during the encounter, it turned out to be quite gainful. All three fully recovered and the gang was able to exchange their collected warpstone for 80 gold crowns which would be most welcomed by skaven masters who had sent them into the city.
Finally, another plotting skaven warband, lead by Skitter the Lethal, made a “Chance Encounter” with the Tomb Guardians, Shemsu Akhenaton II, that had lingered in the ruins after their successful surprise attack. But this matchup did not go as well as the last. The leader Tora Khenatan II, was taken out by a combination of skaven warrior and giant rats while his accompanying Lich Priest was eliminated by the black skaven, Nool the Assassin. These positives for the skaven were offset by the death of Orz, a young night runner, and an additional vermin henchman both in the city for the first time. Experience goes a long way amid these streets of death and destruction, but only if you live long enough.
With wounds bound up and warpstone collected, participants in all quarters of the city continue the insane search. Meanwhile, rumors abound of additional warbands preparing and making their way to descend on this orgy of death.

Participants Standings:
1. KAROND KAR -190 (+) (Dark Elf) Kevin O'Born
2. GARIFE"S GANG -116 (Skaven) Rick Hagan
3. SHEMSU AKHENATAN II - ??? (Tomb Guardians) Kevin O'Born
4. SKITTER'S GANG - 79 (Skaven) Rick Hagan
5. TOXURE'S GANG - 66 (Skaven) Rick Hagan

I was finally able to make it up to the Haven on Saturday. Kevin and Jeremy were there and we did a three-way "Wyrdstone Hunt" scenario. I brought my Marienburgers to the fray. We scattered the wyrdstone tokens around the table and each selected a table edge with Jeremy and his Beastmen ending up stuck in between the Marienburgers and the Dark Elves. The beastmen stacked most of their forces to square off with the Elves but a few hounds made their way over towards the Mercenaries. About five turns in the beastmen had been severely mauled, mostly by the Dark Elves, and routed off the table. The Elves and Mercenaries played a little cat and mouse with missile fire which ended up with the beastmaster being taken out by a blunderbuss shot, one swordsman going down in a hail of crossbow bolts and one swordsman falling to the darksteel sword of the Druchii leader. The Marienburger Captain, realizing that he was highly outclassed by the Elves, decided that discretion was the better part of valor and withdrew his warband after securing a load of wyrdstone before any serious damage could be inflicted by the Druchii.

It was a fun game and had some pretty intense moments.

First week Is finished!  We will do single week rounds with a end of month leader. This will be anounced Jan 31st. There will be weekly top warband rating also. I am not sure what the standings are because I do not have all battle results. :( I have included a excel document that I will track the warbands on. Take a look and notify me of any changes or additions. The best proceedure would be to use the "Battle Report" form included in the excel doc for each of your battles. These work even when you play without all of us together. You can e-mail these to me and also keep track on your own.:D
If all keep developing I would like to turn this into a map campaign some time in March. There are also other places to explore. It would be interesting to skirmish the Tomb Guardians on their home turf!:p
I have been working on some sewer terrain and a river board!! Can't wait to show it off and most importantly PLAY ON IT!! Lots of elevation, places to hid and stairways.
As of now I can play tomorrow afternoon around 1-2 ish. Let me know.

FAVOR AND NUMBERS TRIUMPH IN THE CITY OF MISFORTUNE!

The leader of Garife’s Gang was confident of their coming success and survival after his latest sortie into Mordheim’s miserable streets. He had seen what his developing warband was capable of, even without much experience. If the present trends continued he foresaw this group growing into an efficient and economical enterprise that would produce much warpstone for his master Naszuss and possibly bringing him into favor with the council.
Garife heard that a human mercenary captain known as Maarten was in the cursed city and had attempted an engagement for weeks, when finally a “Chance Encounter” offered them both the opportunity. The days luck began when Garife was able to watch the human deploy his forces around a wrecked tower. In the tower high above the street, he observed several bow and crossbowmen, while three separate 4 to 5 man warrior groups arranged themselves about the base. Seeing the enemy’s disposition set the skaven’s cunning mind to work. With the six new giant rats he had acquired after the last raid along with the two that the sorcerer Suzse had summoned only moments before to bolster his warband, he knew that numbers were on his side and could outweigh the disadvantage of not possessing any long range missile weapons the humans were so fond of using. He decided on a three pronged attack plan that would engage all three warrior groups simultaneously and give the shooters in the tower so many targets at the same time they wouldn’t know who to shoot. On the right with his newly acquired giant rats he placed the two younger night runners Fugrat and Nirkz. They would have the furthest to travel especially if the humans reacted by massing in a single direction. In the center was Suzse with his summoned rats, completely concealed in the rubble because they were positioned closest to the waiting men. On the right with the veteran group of giant rats, who had proven so useful before, himself and the black skaven Orz the knife with his set of effective fighting claws, waited. The time to strike had come! There was not much to do initially except to close the distance and remain as concealed as possible. The humans countered more boldly than he had expected and actually advanced forward toward his approaching hordes. This move left Garife, Orz and half of his rats exposed in an open street and a thundering blunderbuss accented the danger. However the effectiveness of this move never materialized and was only another of Garife’s string of good fortune that would continue to build against the humans. Even though their leader lay stunned on the ground, Orz and the rats charged the approaching attackers as the other half of the giant rats continued their maneuver toward the humans in the tower. Suzse released the rats with him who applied pressure on the defending men in the center as Fugrat and Nirkz continued their advance. By the time Garife regained his feet, two of the human groups were fully engaged by his skaven warriors who had inflicted many a critical hit and had already taken four of them out of action, including the offender who had targeted their leader. This caused the shooters in the tower to concentrate their fire on Suzse’s approaching force and the group led by Fugrat and Nirkz but the combined fire had only resulted in a single giant rat being eliminated. Two more human warriors fell as more skaven entered the fray. With losses continuing to mount, every bite and swing of a weapon scoring devastating hits and the situation continuing to developing against him, the human captain decided he had had enough of Mordheim’s cruelty this day and disengaged. Garife, very pleased with the performance of his warband, did not pursue knowing how fickle these fortunes can be and how quickly the streets of Mordheim can consume. He now had six shards of precious warpstone for his master’s plan and an additional searching of the area afterwards yielded a further reward, with the discovery of a moneylender’s house. This day in Mordheim has brought triumph.

Sewer terrain and a river board is looking sweeeet if I do say so myself!!! Can't wait to show it off and most importantly PLAY ON IT!! Lots of elevation, places to hid and stairways. My son is joining the fray so should be a busy round 3!!:D

Later

Or in the sewers :D

Though I have a feeling that Garife may just have the advantage there, I'm still willing to give it the old college try!

As for specific days...at this point my schedule is open, so whenever is good for everyone else.

THE DIN OF CONFLICT IS AGAIN HEARD IN MORDHEIM!!

http://i66.servimg.com/u/f66/14/76/00/43/a_batt11.jpg

The streets of Mordheim had been strangely quiet. Count Greyhoff’s spies and informers had not sent in any reports for nearly a week. Then suddenly, one ran in with an excited rumor that a building with a concealed cellar containing a treasure chest had been located. The exact location was not known but it was near the Temple of Sigmar which sat next to a drainage ditch that serviced the area. The Count quickly readied his men spurred on by the added report that a rival human warband was also aware of the treasure’s presence and was already heading in to claim the prize.

The Mercenaries entered the area first positioning three marksmen on the second level of a ruined house with the remaining members of the warband on the opposite side of the ditch facing the temple. Count Greyhoff immediately realized that he had both numbers and close access to possible locations in his favor so he dispatched Drool and the new dreg Shorty with seven zombies to search the three building on the far bank opposite the temple. This would leave himself, Aste the necromancer, the dreg Reach and the remaining zombies to search the Temple of Sigmar.

The slowness of the zombies did not prevent Greyhoff from acting first by sending his zombies around the corner of the temple to threaten the humans approach while he and Aste entered the temple’s rear entrance with Reach in the lead. Meanwhile Drool and Shorty approached the nearest building with one group of zombies to their left, moving along the road paralleling the ditch, and another group to their right.

http://i66.servimg.com/u/f66/14/76/00/43/c_00311.jpg

The mercenaries were the first to search a building but the count could tell by their subdued reactions that the treasure had not been located. The remaining marksmen took up elevated positions to provide cover while their leader and his entourage approached the temple’s main entrance from the opposite side. The count, Aste and Reach quickly searched the temple’s first floor as soon as they entered and also came up empty. They then took up positions to defend up while Drool and Shorty completed their search. The first two building contained nothing of value so this left only the Roadhouse across the street or the basement of the temple itself that would contain their greedy goal.

The count defended deep in the shadows of the temple to remain protected from the sting of the mercenary’s handguns however a sharp eyed marksman spied the undead Lord and answered with two shots through the main entrance which slammed the count to the ground. Seeing their comrade’s accomplishment, the marksmen on the other side of the ditch decide to take aim on the approaching zombies and put one down. Meanwhile Drool and Shorty split up to search the roadhouse. Drool came up empty in the larger section but Shorty hit pay dirt in the smaller corner room. The new guy has now proved his worth.

http://i66.servimg.com/u/f66/14/76/00/43/c01211.jpg

As soon as the count regained his feet and with the treasure located he gave the signal for all his forces to withdraw. Drool and Shorty secure the chest, place the zombies to cover their route and move out. At the same time the mercenaries massed near the temple entrance to assault the undead occupants. Sensing his master’s peril, Reach positioned himself in front of the count as he and Aste headed out the door. This move was immediately rewarded with the attention of three of the mercenary swordsmen which put the dreg on the ground rethinking the value of his action.

http://i66.servimg.com/u/f66/14/76/00/43/c01711.jpg

Even though the undead leader and his necromancer were able to get out the door due to the sacrifice of the dreg, the mercenary captain caught them before they reached the bottom of the stairs leaving the count unmoving and the necromancer attempting to get as many zombies as possible between him and the blade swinging captain. This initiated a battle at the foot of the stairs that lasted until Drool and Shorty accomplished getting the treasure safely out of the area.

http://i66.servimg.com/u/f66/14/76/00/43/c02011.jpg

Afterwards Count Greyhoff and his dreg Reach fully recovered from their wounds and were able to enjoy the spoils of the raid. The count now thought it prudent, after the near demise of Reach, that the warband was wealthy enough to hire the services of an Ogre bodyguard to act in such a manner.

I haven't had the privilege of playing Mordheim yet.But I've always been intrigued by the cool skirmish look of it.Very characterful with individual's chances to shine and be the hero or the villain. Are there warbands(is that the right term?)for most of the different races of the Warhammer world?

whisper2053
02-01-2010, 06:27 PM
There are indeed. The sky's pretty much the limit when it comes to warband selection, since some of the races have 2, 3, or even more variant warbands within the individual races!

If you take a look at how I posted those last several games my son and I played, That is the most critical info I need. Both players in a game should send in a report but just with thier stats.

Matt's in college now and isn't in town anymore except on rare weekends, Jeremy's back in high school and tends to not be able to come out on weekdays. Nor can I (being active duty). Weekends are pretty much the ONLY time I'm going to be able to get games in for the foreseeable future due to many late nights lately spent packing up.
