Hi everybody,

I was just curious as to what people like in the Napoleonic Miniature line? And to what scale do people like playing?

For 25-28mm, I think FRONT RANK makes the best looking Nappy minis. Great looking models. I just wish they were available in the States. I also like the Perry Brothers stuff.

For 15mm, I like Essex and Dixon and Old Glory.

And for smaller scales, I like Baccus for 6 mm and there are some nice 10mm stuff there as well.

What do you think? :D
Thanks,
Troy

I have only 15mm, so I like Minifigs, good detail but affordable.

Most 15mm and smaller are pretty affordable. That is why 10mm and 6mm are so popular. They offer very affordable armies for people who are watching their gaming budgets.

Battle Honours is the way to go for 15mm IMHO.

I like them as well. There are alot of companies out of the UK that make great lines of figs.

Actually, I think they were sold and are now in Toronto or something. A bit more $ but worth it.
They used to make an awesome Ancients line as well, but stopped making them a few years ago.
:(

For 25mm, I like Wargames Foundry, but they cost a lot more than others.

I'm easy, but I am not cheap.

Understandable. I like the Foundry stuff too. Them and the Perrys for stuff that can be gotten without a ton of shipping.

I tend to favor the Perry Miniatures for Napoleonics and Ancients (especially, Samurai!). The detail is outstanding although I'm not too sure how many I would have to purchase to have a playable army in the 25mm - 28mm scale.

Respectfully,
KEVIN

All very good ones. Thanks for the WFB version of the rules Steve.

Ok, so continuing with this theme....favorite Nappy based movie?

The SHARPE series are awesome. You can track them down on DVD. Highly recommend them. Sean Bean is great as Richard Sharpe of the 95 Rilfes.

WATERLOO is one of my favs. Great portrayals of both Napoleon and Wellington and amazing battle sequences.
THE DUELISTS- great movie of the period and highly disturbing. The story of 2 men's obsession.

As an avid nappy painter, I would have to say my favorite line of minis so far would have to be the 15mm AB minis. Nice detail, and yet still mostly clean molds. I also like Old Glory, but they are a little bit messier with the mold lines.

The only nappy rules set I've played is Empire 6th ed. I've also heard that nappy's battles isn't too bad, but all my crap is based for Empire... bummer.

I think my favorites would have to be the sharp series.

Just like the novels that inspired them, the SHARPE movies are well down and really capture the feel of the exploits of everyone's favorite member of the 95 Rifles.

If you ever get the chance to bring in some of your painted Nappies to the store Jonathan, I would love to see them.

I'll bring them by the next time I swing by the store, Troy. I've got a good mix of stuff, from British Highlanders to Spanish, Brunswicks, Hanoverians and of course French. I wouldn't mind playing a game of Napoleons Battles one of these days, just to learn the rules. I'm assuming they're more complicated than 40k, but not too terrible?

Not too bad, once you get a couple of games under your belt. I have played them a few times for Clay Bush's Nappy Battles Tourneys that he runs at both Genghis Con and TactiCon.

Lamont ran a Napoleon's Battles demo game at the store a few months ago. He might be willing to run another demo if you contact him.

Fronk Rank, by far, in 25mm.

Old Glory makes decent 25s, for a good price.
