giant bash 14 march

OK, so next wed is the next round of campaign moves. so the following wed, 14 march, will be the Giant bash! yes, let the giants of the world clash against each other. all you need to do is bring a giant and 200pts of core troops. dont have a giant? dont worry, show up with 200pts of core troops, and some of us with extra giants will bring them so you can use them. and worst case, we will have giant bases that can be used. the key is to get people to play something different, and this will definitely be different.
feel free to post ahead of time if you plan to participate. but everyone who shows up with 200pts of core troops will get to play!

this one is on 14 march, which is a wed night. there are no free saturdays this month, and this event wont take all that long so we chose the regular wed night warhammer night to do this the first time. we would like to get every there about 5:30 to get rules and deploy the giants. that should give us about 3 hours to complete the event by closing time. if it goes well, then i would expect another similar event run on a weekend so that we can get more participation.

you could definitely use a treemand figure to represent a giant, but we will use the giant stat line to keep it balanced. but yes, that would be a great idea (besides, i would love to cut down yet another treeman...TIMBER!!!!)

I figured as much, besides i would rather wack with club than move trees or straggle with roots any day of the week.

One other thing, are unit minimums going to be standard or war band rules?

You must field 10+ on most units under standard rules (as per army book) and under 500 pts war band rules you may field any size units but can't take command until you reach legal size.

good question, i hadnt thought that far through it because i figured most would just use the unit minimums. but some folks might have a trick up there sleeves, so yes, go with the war band rules for composition. if anyone doesnt understand what that means, let me know and we can explain it to you, or just go with the regular army book minimums for ease.

My work schedule keeps me away from playing at the store often but this event sounds really awesome!!! Kinda like a Dreadnought bash or a Tanksgiving thing (that I have also yet to play). :o

OK, so here are some more details of the event; so far we have 5 players that have indicated they would probably make it, another 3 players are thinking about it. i know there are more people than that! so check out the details below, and let us know if you want in. of course, figures dont have to be painted (although painted figures always do better than non-painted ones of course), but it is better to come join the fun than not play at all

Sponsored by the mentor legion, this is a warhammer fantasy battles fun event, for both new and experienced players. The details are below

Yes, the time of the giants is upon us, and they have been beckoned to the Valley of Piragma for the ultimate trial of combat...the battle of giants. In this large valley, the giants have gathered for the opportunity to be the leader of all giants, the one who stands above the rest.

This will be a grand melee event. Each participant will field a giant, and 200pts of core troops from one army. If you don't have a giant or the 200pts of core troops, then make a post on here so we can help you out. We want to encourage everyone to participate, regardless of whether you have the figures or not.

Deployment will be done in random order. You can deploy anywhere on the battleifeld, but no closer than 18 inches from an enemy model.

Each player will also randomly pick another player as their hated foe. If they kill their hated foe's giant in giant-to-giant combat, they get an extra 300 victory points (so that giant would earn 500 victory points total).

If a giant kills another giant (killing is defined as causing the final death wound), that player gets 200 victory points.

Victory points are not awarded for killing the core troops, or for the core troops killing giants. Victory points are only awarded for giants killing giants!!

The last giant standing also gets an extra 500 victory points.

like i said tony, dont worry about that part, we will have giants or bases to use as giants. just bring 200pts of core troops and you can use a proxy giant to participate

oh ya, one other rule i forgot that might be important, the 200pts of core troops are immune to physcology. after all, they are lead by a giant, so what else could cause more fear or panic in them than that??!!

OK, so im trying to confirm how many people are in so i know how many copies of the rules and the giant sheet to print. several people have expressed interest but didnt say for sure. so if you want in, put a post up here to confirm you want into the big giant bash!

chaos mortals and chaos giant
beastmen and beast chaos giant
ogres and a slave giant (which is probably what ill be playing)

So, a hopefully this will lure in a few more players so we can really have a mega-battle!
