So we started our Risk Legacy campaign today. All players will hopefully be commenting as we finish games. We'll start any posts with *SPOILER* if any packet openings occur and you don't want to read about them. This didn't happen during either game 1 or 2 so won't be a problem.

Otherwise, I'll be starting the game overview with who played which faction and their starting location. After that I hope others will comment on the game. Then I'll put up end of the game rewards. Repeat for each game.

GAME 1 - January 17, 2128
Play Time: ~ 1 hour

Ed - Imperial Balkania - Western Australia
Trish - Khan Industries - Afghanistan

Game Summary
Turn 1
Rob took North America making him Will's primary target.
Will took Alaska.
Ed takes control of Australia.

Turn 2
Rob attempted to retake Alaska, Will placed a 'Bunker' and held him off.
Trish took Ray's HQ in North Africa.

Turn 3
Ray placed an 'Ammo Shortage' in North Africa, yes that would be his HQ, and retook it after fighting from two fronts.
Ed attacked Trish's HQ in Afghanistan, Rob placed a 'Bunker' to aid in her defense, allowing her to hold him off.
Rob's action sparks a treaty between Will and Ed.
Trish retakes Ray's scorched earth HQ.

Turn 4
Ray reclaims his HQ once again.
Ed attempts to conquer Trish's HQ in Afghanistan and again fails.

Turn 5
Will takes over Ray's HQ.
Trish turns in four cards for a red star and takes Will's HQ, placing another 'Ammo Shortage' in his territory.

My scorched earth policy on my own HQ in North Africa made holding Africa just about impossible and made it a huge target. In four turns of play it was taken or retaken five times.

Getting used to the four red stars victory conditions is a very different feel from regular Risk.

We had a great time talking trash and playing though. More comments to come fro game 2 after everyone else has had a chance to comment on game 1 and we post up the rewards fro game 1 (Major City and four minor cities).

While I found (and still find) dropping a bunker in Alaska highly amusing; keeping just enough guys on it to make taking it back an either unattractive or unsuccessful option for Rob meant I didn't have to worry much about that front. Unfortunately that made it difficult to keep enough units on my capital to keep it more or less safe. While we didn't have much infighting in Asia until towards the end (at least up by my part), I should have expanded more to better protect myself from Ed and Trish.

There is certainly an added impetus to expand and to keep an eye on your opponents. I expanded slowly at first, and had a good shot at victory on turn three, the plan being to rush through Trish's HQ and travel through the mostly unoccupied Europe to capture Ray's Ammo shortaged capitol for the win. Unfortunately, Rob's Bunker turned victory into trench warfare, and I was surprised at the resistance I met there turn after turn. I neglected to place my Bunker Scar sticker, as I never really came under attack, and I wasn't about to place a bunker to protect Australia for future games if I didn't have to...

It still feels like Risk, but the twists freshen up the game and make you look at it differently, exactly as they should!

Game Summary
Turn 1
Will and Ed made the American Compact (a treaty between North and South America).

Turn 2
Will took over all S. America.
Ed took over all N. America.
Trish invaded Greenland to prevent Ed from holding N. America.

Turn 3
Rob, Trish, and Ray made a very loose treaty, Rob actually never agreed, to combat the evil forces of the Americas.
Ed retakes Greenland.

Turn 4
Ray drives through N. America to Ed's HQ and takes control of it.

Turn 5
Ed retakes his HQ.

Turn 6
Trish takes Brazil from Will.
Ray attacked Eastern US, losing five troops to his one, gaining the 3-coin resource card available for that territory.

Turn 7
Will turned in cards for troops and took over Rob's and Ray's HQ's for the win.

Game Summary
Turn 1
Will took Alaska making Ray irate.
Ray took Alaska and then Will's HQ eliminating him from the game on turn 1. After gaining his card the 'Fortify' event was triggered giving him two additional troops in Alaska.
Trish takes control of AustRAYlia.
Ed takes control on S. America and moves into Southern Europe.

Turn 2
Will joined the war in Central Africa.
Ray gained a card, triggering another event, 'Resistance', causing Ed and Trish to each lose control of their continents.
Trish and Ed retake their continents.

Turn 3
Ray takes China from Trish.
Rob takes China from Ray.
Trish takes China from Rob.

Turn 4
Ray triggered another event, 'Riots', causing him to lose control of Willopolis in Alaska. Depleted coin card stack to gain a red star (first time).
Trish takes Will's HQ from Ray.

Turn 5
Ray turns in for 33 troops (10 resources) to open the "30 + One Missile" packet.
Packet includes the Aliens and the Alien Island. He places the island of the coast of Asia, connecting it to China and Central US.
He attacks into China then attacks Trish in SE Asia. Will, Ray, and Trish all expend missiles to open the 'Three Missile Used In One Combat' packet. Packet includes the Mutants and a nuclear explosion goes off in China, killing 50 troops, 43 being Ray's!
Trish gained a card, triggering another event, 'Resistance', causing Ed and Trish to each lose control of their continents.

Turn 6
Will placed an 'Ammo Shortage' in Western Europe.
Rob took control of Europe and then pushed into AustRAYila taking Trish's HQ.
Ed captures the Alien Island from Ray.

Turn 7
Ray pushes through N. and S. America to Ed's HQ and captures it. He then tries to pull out the win by attacking Trish, who is holding Will's HQ, but fails.
Rob attacks Siberia, Ray puts down a 'Bunker'. Robs wins and continues to push toward Will's HQ, taking it from Trish for the win.

Response from the game designer on BGG when I posted we opened both sealed boxes on the same turn:

"Wait? Both of the sealed parts of the vac tray? On the SAME TURN?"

After a three month hiatus we got going again. Had to reread the rules again, but had a blast. Hope to get in a game every few weeks now. Remember SPOILERS will be found in all posts from game 4 on.

GAME 5 - May 15, 2128
Play Time: ~ 1 hour

Ray - Mutants - Indonesia

Game Summary
Turn 1
Expansion by all. Trish took Alien Island and encroached into S. America, taking Venezuela from Rob.

Turn 2
Rob retakes Venezuela.
Trish attacks NW Territory, owned by Will, and loses six troops. Event triggered, Ray gains five troops.
Will play's 'Short Sighted' weakness on Ray's Mutants.
Ray moves into China.

Turn 3
Rob takes Central America, Trish's HQ. Event card triggered, 'Mysterious Island', Trish gets a resource card, and a second event is triggered. 'Fallout' wiping out all of Ed's troops from the board.
Ed is able to rejoin the war back in his HQ.
Trish took NW Territory.
Will retakes it.
Ray expands into Asia, testing the waters vs Alaska, but not succeeding.

Turn 4
Rob sets of another event, allowing Trish to play a ruin. She destroys 'New Avalon' in SE Asia.
Trish turns in for 21+3 and retakes her HQ from Rob and Will's HQ in Alaska.
Will turns in for 4+3 and takes Western US from Trish, losing six troops in the process.
Ray takes Alaska from Trish. Moves mutants into Alberta, the last bio-hazard/fallout area for an extra red star. Then goes after Ed's HQ in Ural and captures it winning the game.
