Looks like it may be a good successor to the first 2 Fallouts.
I played the crap out of Wasteland when I was a kid. They really knew how to use a crowbar in that game. The Fallouts are special favorites of mine. This one looks great--I hope it comes through.

Fallout rocks.
I'm looking forward to this, but not to the 2-3 years from now we'll be waiting.

YES, YES! I LOVED Wasteland/Fallout series. A great RPG and the dark humor just made it even better.
Stu, the Proton Axe was the melee weapon of choice as you know.

Well,
I've been waiting forever, so I guess three years isn't going to hurt.
This is the first game I've been truly stoked about for a long time - so I hope it doesn't dissappoint

A bit of trivia: Fallout was originally meant to be a G.U.R.P.S. based RPG, but for whatever reason (licensing issues probably), it never went through and thus they made their own system which was cool.
Loved those perks. Although useful in only 1-2 points in the game, having a Karma Sutra perk in Fallout 2 was just funny.

Not so much trivia for those of us who have been playing gurps from the beginning. And believe me when I say it was dissapointing when they weren't able to work out their differences.
However the games were good enough, and retained enough of their Gurps roots that they were fun enough to play.
In fact, I've just finished replaying the series again, so news of the third finally being back on track is exciting.

I'm a little worried, I heard that Fallout 3 is supposed to be more like a FPS. If so I'm not sure I would a little bit reserved.

I woudln't sorry much about that. It's a rumor that began circulating long before Bethesda had the title.
If anything it would become a first person RPG similar to Morowind and Oblivion, which are, IMO the best computer RPG's on the market.
I do doubt that they will employ the 2-d iso view that was used for the first three titles, but it was the storyline and game mechanics (imo) that made fallout great. As long as the graphics look good I don't care what viewpoint they choose.
Wasteland was based on Mercenaries, Spies, and Private Eyes. Best rpg ever.
They could do worse with Fallout than using that engine to power a computer game again, despite its age. it's a masterpiece--and it's ahead-of-its-time-edness becomes mre and more apparent with time.

I was never a fan of M , S &P - but there were many out there. And wasteland was a fun game.

Well I am a huge fan of the fallout series....if they decide to go the FPS RPG route then I am all for it. Its nice to have a bit of a change to keep up with styles of gaming. People play more and more FPS games these days anyways so why not cater to them. Then again I still dig the old style that they used. As long as I have the opportunity to blow away pesky brahman (sp?) ranchers I will be happy. I cant tell you how many times in other games where people pissed me off and I wanted to kill them, but because of game mechanics I had to just deal with it. Blow them away I say... Go Team Evil!!
Also that article from the first post is now gone, could anyone gimmie a brief rundown on what it said?

The fallout games were really cool. I'm interested in seeing what they do with this one. I've never been a big fan of FPS style games though. They tend to leant towards the school of thought "If we make cool weapons and good graphics, we don't need game play and story lines".
