To vbPlaza or Not

How many of you use the vbPlaza "toys" for any thing besides getting an Avatar or the like?

I've found there isn't much worth spending on besides your initial Avatar.
-- It doesn't let you change your own titles, etc
-- I tried using a purchase to pin threads, but that didn't work (no permissions)
-- It works to give awards/feedback to others, but its so many clicks away, and the site is so slow sometimes, that I never bother.

I agree with Dale here... It seems odd that the Titles option seems to only be open to Moderators or Above, people should be able to buy their own title if nothing else...

But with the things that just seem to not work, and the other things that don't have much effect... it's kinda hard.

I've also tried repping a few frequent posters up to more then the basic level (Dales one example) but I'm still not seeing any rep raises happening out there really (Buying the unlimited Rep grants is a good one)

I also enjoy giving gifts and I've received some kinda fun, but again not really being used allot!

It is a pretty cool feature, but I haven't really taken the time to explore it. Just the avatar and name options.

It'd definitely be helpful if there was both a guide to HOW to get the items, and how MUCH each item requires. I have over 4000 points in my bank now, and everything I've clicked in the listed says "you do not have enough points..."

Otherwise, I'm thirding Dale and "The Jim" (and more than likely going to Hades for it...). What things there are are cool, but it's hard to drill down to and the site is so slow at times it's not worth doing anything except read the occasional post and be patient while trying to reply.

I hate to be a follower, but I agree with most of the posts so far. While I don't see it as difficult to use, there aren't many features beyond the initial ones that are useful. I do enjoy the gifts/rep features, but it won't let you give rep to someone if you have given it to them recently. I understand the reasoning behind it, but darn it, there aren't too many people on this board funny or creative enough to deserve rep. I am glad that the "negative" features on the board aren't used too much. Talk about a way to eat up points. Revenge is expensive. :D

My only suggestion is if there were more feature that would allow you to "purty up" your posts.

But all in all a really great job guys. Thank you.

at 30,000 points it a touch prohibitive, but allows you to Rep over and over again... Spreading the love!

There should be a way to give rep right on the post itself. I'm on another board thats allows just that.

Are you talking about a + or - on the post itself as opposed to what we currently have that loads a separate dialog?

If so I'd completely agree... also to get the rep system in this community to work I think the above mentioned Unlimited rep gives per day should either be cheaper or free... Otherwise Rep is just too much of a pain to give.


I'd also LOVE if they put in Spoiler Tags, where anything written Betwixt Spoiler tags is the same color as the background, therefore invisible...

I'll have to admit that I'm pretty much a numbnut when it comes to using the vPlaza.
I've tried to deposit my points in the bank but, for some reason I always get rejected and get get anything deposited to actually purchase anything in the first place.

I can't even get an Avatar or one of those cool, "I am Lion Clan" banners to show up in my signature block :(

As to Sigs... just make sure you are using the proper tags. Make your sig look like you would want it to post.

Well,

I like the idea behind the rep points and the plaza stuff (course now the points and plaza goodies are gone) but there doesn't seem to be much incentive to spread the love.

What we had looked more like a popularity/infamy contest in which the people who are well known get high reps regardless of what they write, and everyone else seems to stay pretty close to the basic level.

I hadn't bought an avatar with my points yet, and now they are gone, so that's that - but I was actually saving them to see how long it would take to buy some of the fun rewards to hand out to people.

Like I said, I liked the idea - it was going to take forever to save up enough points to try out some of the fun things I wanted to do, but it also made coming back to the site when there was really nothing worth posting an option.

It seems it might have slowed the system down though, so I guess it's good that they are gone.

Not sure what happened there. I uninstalled it the other day and it just came back on it's own today. I've uninstalled it again and deleted the plug ins for it this time as well. We'll see what happens now.

Avatars are working now. Only problem I'm running into (and it's a personal one) is that the avatar is really restricted in amount of pixels and file size. Any chance we could get that increased a bit?
