Have to tell you guys about this one. I found it after realizing I was disenchaned wit the new real time strategy games - Tiberium Wars and Suprem Commander. Or, maybe, burned out. I did a google serach with "turn based strategy games". Came upon a website that was a forum for rating and reviewing internent games and came upon a jewel. Battle for Wesnoth.
"Battle for Wesnoth is a turn based strategy game with a fantasy theme."
That sums it up. It's reminiscent of the Ogre series turn based games on the game boy. Without the Japanese drama bent and cut scenes. It is quite like Heroscape on the computer. By God, it is a PC strategy game you can play while eating a bowl of cereal!
And, it's free.
Oh, I found it by typing in "Battle for Wesnoth" and going to the site that made the most sense. There, you have a choice of downloads. I picked the one that was for Windows. A smidge more than 5 minutes later, the game was in my computer and I was looking at the title screen.
Oops, I'm rambling. See what you think. If you want to.
