I heard some interesting Hindenburg facts this weekend, on the Anniversary of the crash. Which all has bearing on Stu's master plan to escape the zombies by airship.

First off, the current theory (from a big NASA scientist no less) is that the Hydrogen never ignited. Instead it was the highly flammable coating of the airframe that went up. NASA sez, "Don't paint your airship with Rocket Fuel!"

Second, the 35 people who died where all from those who jumped or were on the ground. Everyone who stayed inside the ship survived!

All this makes me sad. We were prevented from a world of airships by one coat of paint, bad weather, and a little human stupidity!

I saw that on Mythbusters! For those of you looking for a more credible source than a NASA scientist, there you go. :D

I actually posted that here somewhere.
I saw it on . . . Secrets of the Dead?, I think. I don't get the cable, so I only see Mythbusters once in a blue moon. I actually went and did some reading after the show. Apparently, they were pretty sure it wasn't the hydrogen all along. But no one wanted to accept responsibility for the whole "painted with rocket fuel" thing. So let an industry die. Hysteria. And mismanagement.

Job security, baby.

And since when do any of you have any doubt "it'll work" ??!!!

I am surprised Stu doesn't bring his Zeppelin that he has hidden from the world to the store to show it off! Him and Jake flying all around the city.

There are two zeps flying over our FOB as I write. The first time I saw them in '05 I thought to myself "self, are they using these as barrage ballons? didn't know there was an aircraft threat." :o oops! wrong answer. Although they have been shot down before and one broke loose and had to be destroyed by the air force before it drifted into Iranian airspace.
