Just got my e-newsletter from GW, O&G are getting a new book for 8th in March, plus a huge release of new plastics.
March 2011 will see the release of Warhammer: Orcs & Goblins, an essential guide to fielding a greenskin host on the tabletop, and a veritable font of knowledge detailing the complete rules, background, artwork and enormous range of miniatures available to a budding Warboss.
To support this exciting release, we will also be unveiling a genuine feast of new miniatures that would sate even the most ravenous Troll. All will be revealed in time, but keep up to speed on developments by checking out White Dwarf and the What's New Today blog on the website. If you haven't already done so, make sure you sign up to the Games Workshop newsletter to learn of any news as soon as it is released.
It's in the Astronomican, which you have to sign in to.

Wow! Imagine that. Wonder if I should just wait a year or two for the next version to come out?

Who knows, Rick, it is GW... they might release 9th edition next summer and invalidate EVERYTHING...

I finally got my rule book!! :D So far seems like an interesting change of focus. I am up to the magic section. I look forward to some conflict when I return. Now if GW will just keep it the same for at least 10 years:p

I was a bit surprised myself to see this announcement, since i thought Tomb Kings and Ogres deserved a book before Greenskins, but GW will do what they can for the money, and there are a ton more greenskin players, thus...
unfortunately, it means i have to go back and start working on greenskins again, although maybe this time i can actually finish them up and have a painted army i can take to a tourney (which also means i stop working on my chaos warriors and wont get them tourney ready either...)
so i wonder what it is they think in the greenskins current book that is in such a need of getting a new book?

I don't know either, Jeff. The current one is solid in 8th, especially since O&G have to have big blocks for most rules (20+ orcs, 30+ gobbos), while things like trolls benefit from the RB override (min 3+). Maybe it's just a rewrite, bring things into coherence with 8th rules? Like adding the troop type, correcting minimum model requirements, clearing up the generic Magic Items?
I'd rather see Tomb Kings followed by Ogres, as well. Both need some serious love in the units/rules department.

Those need help the most. Then Wood Elves need a redo to recapture their flavor.
But yeah, we get O&G for 2011. And yet, the winner of the 2010 Australian Masters just did it with a Goblin-Only army...
This is a surprise to me because I thought they were giving Bretonnians a new book. I dont know if anyone else noticed but if you open it to the contents page in the top right it shows a tiny version of the cover on the white dwarf and says new cover art. I guessed it was bretonnian since its a bret. knight fighting a daemon and the daemons have already got an army book.
