AT-43 vs BF:Evo

Okily dokily. All these prepainted minis are tweaking my nose, but I can't afford to play both AT-43 and Battlefield: Evolution. Therefore, I was wondering if proponents of both games could give me some input on their respective plastic crack so I can make an informed judgement.

I haven't played BFE yet, but they use similar mechanics to SST, which was pretty cool. Mongoose has a rep for falling down on the Army list side though, so I'd be cautious there.

At-43 is a surprisingly good ruleset, for being translated from French. And its very close to 40K, but without different rolls to wound and Armor saves, and with cool innovations. To Hit is also Range dependent (what a concept!). I also like the Activation Sequence which requires you plan ahead.

It *really* bogs down to what background do you prefer:
-- Near Future Modern Warfare, West vs Islam
-- Far Future Sci Fi , with UN (US) Troops and Commies versus the necromantic Borg version of the Tyranids. With Super-intelligent Apes n power armor allying to the humans, plus whatever other Aliens they dreams up.

Did you hear me? "Super-intelligent Apes in power armor"!!!!!!

There's no real way to answer your question. Get a demo of both game systems and then decide for your self.

Dale can give you a demo of AT-43. I can do a demo of BFE for you.

I talked to Dale about AT-43 when he was at HobbyTown the other day, and I'm leaning towards that. I just wanted a quick skinny on mechanics for BFE for comparison.

Tempting, but no. I think I'm going to pick up White Stars. If I ran Karmans, I'd spend all game, every game yelling "Bring me the space man!" and throwing poop at my opponent.

You are still obligated in future games to yell "Get your paws off me, you damn dirty...uhhh...Karman!"
