Some more HULK casting news......

William Hurt hurtling to "Hulk" cast By Borys Kit
Wed Jun 13, 1:08 AM ET

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - William Hurt has joined the all-star cast of "The Incredible Hulk," which is slated to begin shooting this summer in Toronto.

The action sees Bruce Banner/Hulk ( Edward Norton) on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a monster. Hurt will play Gen. Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, the man who has dedicated his life to capturing the Hulk -- and who also is the father of Banner's love interest, Betty Ross ( Liv Tyler). Also on board is Tim Roth as villain Emil Blonsky/the Abomination.

French filmmaker Louis Leterrier (the "Transporter" movies) is directing the project for Marvel Studios. Universal Pictures will distribute, hoping for better luck than it had with Ang Lee's ill-fated 2003 version, "Hulk."

Hurt, who won an Academy Award for best actor for his work in 1985's "Kiss of the Spider Woman," has been nominated for the golden statuette multiple times, most recently for his malevolent supporting turn in 2005's "A History of Violence." He is currently in theaters with "Mr. Brooks."

=====================================

To me, Sam Elliott will always be Thunderbolt Ross. But I am excited to see Tim Roth as Emil Bronsky. Should be a good casting call there.

I think after the trauma of the last Hulk film this may be just a little too soon.

I think we're about getting to the Sympathetic Osama movie level... but not the re-opening of the Hulk wound.

I like William Hurt, but no way he's better than Sam Elliot as General Ross!

The rest of the cast I'm 100% behind though.

Tim Roth as Emil Bronsky will be sweet. Roth knows evil.

You know I am a little reserved about the idea of Norton as the hulk, but he is a good enough actor to pull it off. Liv Tyler as Betty Ross? Sorry I think thats a bad move. In my opinion shes not a very good actress.

Its not about the acting, Josh. :-)
And she's not that bad - I dug her performance in Jersey Girl a lot.

I don't like Liv Tyler either... She just comes off as kinda... stupid.

Banner's love interest, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler).

Liv Tyler?!? In anything that isn't PORN! Now THAT is the REAL Abomination...

Well sure shes a hottie and all that, but I still think she sucks as an actress. I really think she got her start simply because of the novelty that she is Steven Tylers daughter. After that she was mostly in movies that had decent actors and actresses and they distracted everyone from her. I think she went to the Kevin Costner school of acting because all her movies she plays the same character. Only deviation I have seen is in the LoTR movies and then all she did was lower her voice and lay around a bunch (grade A acting!!).
