View Full Version : Any Interest in a Campaign?

Kevin and I have discussed running a Wargods campaign at the store. It would be a blend of my old campaign rules and the campaign rules in the Wargods book. It would, of course, be a map absed campaign. We would allow any of the Aegyptus, Olympus, Hyperborean or Valhallan lists. I am looking for 8 to 12 players. Any interest?

A "map absed campaign"? Is that abused or abased? Either way my Typhon would be pleased... abused enemies or enemies abased before them.
And yes, the smack talking has officially begun.

There is supposed to be a SOTR Tournament after the Escalation League. Once this has been accomplished, I will talk about a SOTR Campaign

As a co-coordinator and avid Wargods fanatic, I will, of course actively participate in the campaign. I need to get my Spartans back into combat ready form :) The Most Favored Scion of Ares; Lord Deimos is hungry for blood!
Might we be welcoming Don's new Eaters of the Dead horde?
I look forward to many battles during this campaign....
By the way, how many lives does a Typhon have?

KEVIN

I'd throw down. Would have to borrow a spare army if someone had one and need a major refresher of the rules. But if you need an extra let me know.

Sanger says he's interested, too. I'll get with him to assemble his stuff ASAP. I'm assuming it's going to be 1000pt forces with a free 3 KA Harbinger?

It is too bad we do not have a Typhon player.........:D

Troy,
Do thrice dead Typhon harbingers count?
I spoke with Stephan this afternoon and we started talking about the campaign and it appears that he'll be playing his powerfully mystical Tethru warband with some city-dwellers to help in the melee phases of the game :)
I am very excited to see that Wargods is making a comeback at the store with this campaign as this is when the system really comes into its own :)
If we're starting with 1000 points, I may start with a To-tanem warband instead, seeing as my 1000 point Spartan warband barely numbers 25 miniatures!

Wow!
A dozen Wargods players and three of them are Wendigo! It is a great time to be a Wendigo player as the official sourcebook for them is due in the next few months. I'll be interested to see how the Titan playtest rules fare as well.
I can't wait!

Ahh yes, the dreaded Scarab Orge! During the 2007 World Wargods Campaign there was a special beast for the Eaters of the Dead players as part of the background story of the campaign; hence the Scarab Ogre! And now, it is available as a regular release whereas during the campaign it was a special limited availability item. This would make an excellent beast for Eaters of the Dead players regardless! An impressive looking miniature...

Don,
I found the following information after conducting a forum search on the Crocodile Games forum for "Scarab Ogre." It should also be located in any version of the Summer World Campaign rules for reinforcements. Enjoy!
Scarab Ogre (GenCon '07 Stats)
Class______Mv__Wnd_#Att_Att_Def_Mis_Arc_Disc_Pts
Scarab Ogre_4___ 4___ 4___ 5__ 6__ -__ 6__ 6___125
DM 2 AR 8
Base: 40x40mm
Fearsome: Each attacker must make a discipline test to attack in melee. If they fail they may not attack that round. This discipline test must be taken each round of melee combat.
The Scarab Ogre is considered a living creature for purposes of spell effects, etc.
The Scarab Ogre occupies the slot generated by the presence of a Necromancer and replaces the unit of Ghouls that the Necromancer might otherwise have. Thus, an undead warband may only ever have one Scarab Ogre, because it is a specialist and requires a legal slot, which is provided by the presence of a Necromancer, who does not already have Ghouls or a Scarab Ogre in the warband.

KEVIN

Well I think I have a list I will play in the upcoming campaign. Just need to make 2 purchases to finish the army up. I am really glad we have 12 people for this. It will be alot of fun. I look forward to seeing all of you on the battlefield.

Troy,
I'm really looking forward to seeing your Asar on the table... we're going to have an amazing variety of warbands in the campaign and play styles. Is everyone playing strictly "pure" warband (i.e. warband comprising solely of the same race... all Heru, all Basti, all Khemru, etc.)?
How did the Wendigo become the most popular warband in the Springs?!?!

Jason,
I guess that explains it...
Instead of Typhoid Mary, we have H1N1 Ed!
In either case, they are to be avoided! J/k, of course!
I've been fortunate enough to fair well in all of my battles against the Hyperborean beasts from the North and I hope to continue my victorious streak to my dying days :)
This campaign is going to be great and I am really looking forward to getting the various back stories for my warband started and reading all of yours...
Be prepared for the return of Lord Deimos; Shield Piercing Destroyer of Men and Most Favored Scion of the Most Murderous Ares!
(Now if I can only beat Forrest's Khemru more often...)

Kevin,
Thanks for looking those rules up. For some reason I couldn't find them. As for the question you posted it looks like I might have a little hodge podge thrown in as it seems those mummies are a little hard to find. however there is still some time so you never know.

Don,
On the Crocodile Games website, they are publishing a new newsletter format/e-zine that features the new, updated Scarab Ogre rules. This should be a regular publication. I saved it and printed it out as well for future reference. Next month will feature articles on the Titans!

Nomti stared at the burning horizon as the caravan moved onward. They had broken camp and were on the move north. Even as far out as the caravan was, rumours and stories had still found them. These rumours of a fabled warrior state far to the north across the Meditrreanian Sea, these Spartans. They were suppose to be great warriors and of course as such stories tend to do, said that these warriors could not be defeated. Nomti smiled to himself, obviously they have never met the Sebeki. Nomti's smile faded. It is bad enough, he thought to himself, that we have to worry about the other Children of the Gods, but now we have neighbors to the north beating the drums of war and looking to possibly expand their might. Nomti was not afraid of combat, he had seen his fair share. He had proven to be a very valuable warrior and was named captain of the Guard. He was part of this caravan, these Disposssessed as they were commonly known throughtout Aegyptus. They were still believers in Osiris and Isis. They had not turned their backs on their gods, not like the City Dwellers. They had stayed true to the beliefs of the murdered God and his wife. Nomti reached for his water pouch and drank, feeling the cool refreshing liquid disolve his thrist. He would keep an ear open for more "stories' of these so called "Spartans". He would defend his people and his land if need be. And woe to any foe who dare challenge the Dispossessed.
had to dust this off for the campaign.

Troy,
It's reading original fan fiction like yours that always gets me excited about playing Wargods! Plus it helps that I have some anxious Spartan hoplites waiting to wash their spears with the blood of any who oppose them!
And, of course, there is always this...
http://www.crocodilegames.com/news_detail.asp?ID=163&Month=&Year=2009
Forrest, we really need to get ourselves energized and finalize these campaign rules. I'm looking to bring my Wargods stuff to the store on Saturday evening and work on some army lists, maybe play a game or two and try and decompress from the stress imposed from work... Anyone care to join me? Forrest, perhaps we can also take some more time to finish the campaign rules and get things started :)
Any takers?
Respectfully,
KEVIN
P.S. Troy has inspired me to start some Spartan fan fiction of my own... be on the look out for some fiction soon :)
