Howdy all,

I know that I haven't chimed in for a while, but the cogs have me wondering. Like I said in my title, are they worth playing?

Their weapons don't look real impressive to me (at 1st glance). They do have some nice abilities. I like the "invisibility"/cover feature and the auto repair for the afv's is nice!

I'm just wondering what some others think. Has anyone played with them/against them yet?

please feel free to report!

I read the book this last weekend. They're GROSS! Not too many area effect weapons, but they easily pour out as much firepower as the Karman, if not more. They get those all-important Missile shots that do 2 damage per hit. They have Medics, and ignore Stealth across big chunks of the army. Their vehicles are fairly light, but they ALL self repair, so Squadrons will be an utter pain to deal with. And they carry more firepower each than their armor would suggest.
If I didn't already have the Karman, I'd be on these guys in a hot second.

The thing you want to remember about them is that they are expensive. So if you play them you will have few models but they will be hard to kill. It is the all eggs in one basket mentality army.

Something that's easy to miss in their rules:

Cog's can't gain a 5+ Cover save, ever.
However, if they do the "Take Cover" action, they gain a 3+ save even if in the wide open! Since they have little else to do with their LPs (their Morale rules are sturdier than the Karman) this makes an AWESOME rule for them!

Wait...I take that back - they have a guy who can "make" Striders just like the Therians can. That'll tempt you to blow a lot of LPs on it each turn... But gosh, what a hardship! ;)

it's simple...just allocate 1LP for each unit for the "take Cover" action every round without fail. There ya go! problem solved. :)
